The International Surf Rescue Challenge is being held in November with a three test series on 27, 28 and 30, 2025.
The International Surf Rescue Challenge is based around a comprehensive team competition programme conducted over three tests, which includes swim, board, ski and beach events. An overall team point score across the three tests will be maintained with the winner being declared the 2025 International Surf Rescue Challenge Champion.
Returning to Mount Maunganui Beach where it was last held in New Zealand in 2017.
Included in the International Surf Rescue Challenge are the historical originating competitions being the Trans-Tasman Challenge between Australia and New Zealand and later the Tri-Nations Challenge between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

New Zealand teams will be headed by the open Black Fins team, with the Junior Black Fins and a New Zealand Pathway Team also competing.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Martin MBE, Event Director of ILS. John lost his courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at the age of 67, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

John’s unwavering commitment and dedication to Lifesaving were truly invaluable. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his support of the Lifesaving World Championships 2024.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the entire community during this difficult time β€οΈπŸ’›
