The Historic Old Pavillon has now had its makeover completed and doesn't it look fantastic with new iron, and fully painted.

A big shout out and thank you to all involved; Dave Ewing from Ewing Joinery and Construction , Stu Williams from Canterbury Waterproofing Ltd and Bruce Wright from Spouting Replacements Ltd plus all the volunteers who put many hours and expertise into the project.

We're on the home stretch now and can just about smell the hot dogs cooking!

Make sure you grab your tickets now so you can come see our beautifully refurbished Old Pavilion along with everything else the Ellesmere A&P Show has to offer, next Saturday, the17th of October!

It's Full Steam Ahead at the Ellesmere A&P Show on Saturday the 17th of October, and we're chuffed to be hosting Cochranes as they celebrate 75 years of supporting farmers through reliable machinery, expert service, and genuine community involvement, which has earnet them recognition and loyalty throughout the South Island.

Cochranes long-standing involvement in the Ellesmere Show reflects a shared history of innovation, farming progress, and community spirit.

Historic newspaper snippets and early show reports frequently mention Cochranes’ machinery displays, from the post‑war tractors of the 1950s to the modern high‑tech equipment showcased today.

All illustrate how both the company and the show have evolved simultaneously.

Throwback to where it all starts in March each year with the handing of the batton.

Outgoing president Tracy McIlraith hands the president's pin to then vice, Alastair Barnett.

As 2026 president, Alastair brings his passion for tradition and innovation together with his theme "Full Steam Ahead - Katoa te mamaoa i mua" Celebrating the evolution of machinery and it’s impact on New Zealand farming.

This years Ellesmere A&P Show will see the best of now and then, with even more traction engines thanks to Ellesmere Vintage Club Inc. along with a selection of the best the Agg Tech industry has to offer in the Halter Innovations Tent.

Pop in to see live demos of Halter’s virtual fencing, test your driving skills on Cochranes tractor simulator, see SPS Automation LTD 's agricultural drones (and a robotic dog!), and compete in the crowd-favorite 'Shovel Off' challenge with Gladfield Malt.

Head straight through the Halter Innovations Tent to check out the action in the Bayleys Selwyn main ring.
