Chopin Polonaises and Songs: June 17th 2.30pm....

A few seats are still available for an uplifting musical afternoon!
featuring Matteo Napoli (piano) and Lilia Carpinelli (soprano)
This extraordinary, intimate concert presents no less than seven Polonaises, including several of the most famous: the “Military” Polonaise in A major Op. 40/1, the Op. 44 “Tragic” Polonaise in F # minor, and the powerful “Heroic” Polonaise Op.53, along with the magnificent Andante spianato et grande polonaise brillante in its solo piano version.

Rounding out the programme, Lilia performs four songs from Chopin’s Opus 74 (to be sung in English), and two of Auckland’s most engaging, accomplished young pianists will make guest appearances.

Complimentary tea, coffee and cookies will be served during the interval.

The gardens here have benefited from Mr BBC’s spadework these last early spring days. New hedges are planted, the birthday daffodils rose in a multitude and our made the most of their yoga platform overlooking the southern lake 🌞

Our first event of 2020 features top-notch Scottish folk singer Alistair Brown.

Born in Scotland, and now living in Cornwall in England’s balmy southwest, Alistair Brown has been singing the old songs, and new songs written by people who like the old songs, since he was fifteen years old.

Saturday February 1st, 5.30pm on the Flute Farm Studio lawn. Entry by koha - (Alistair is very flexible on this but I would like to suggest $15+ for an adult....).

Audiences at concerts and festivals across North America, Australia, New Zealand and the UK have responded enthusiastically to his performances, covering the field from big ballads, comic ditties, songs of struggles (usually unsuccessful) against temptation, odes to conviviality and songs of unashamed sentimentality, to outrageously funny stories from a master of the art - all this accompanied by anglo concertinas and button accordion.

Bring your hats, a snack and a beverage, and something to sit on. In the unlikely event it is raining, the concert will be inside the studio. Let me know if you are planning to come so I can give Alistair some idea of numbers!

Check him out here: http://alistairbrown.com/recordings.html

Enjoy the sunshine folks :)
