SHOW HUNTER: I've been chatting with Sally Parker from Taupo this morning. Sally has had the most wondeful weekened officiating at the Air Napier 2026 Show Hunter Championships in Hastings. She's given me permission to share her words from her personal page:

"What an incredible few days—it truly feels like a privilege to have been part of it.

A huge thank you and congratulations to all the riders, supporters, organisers, and everyone involved in making the Air Napier 2026 Show Hunter Show such a success.

In light of the cancellation of Horse of the Year, this event could have simply been missed, but instead, a dedicated and passionate committee came together and created something really special for the Show Hunter community.

Events like this don’t happen without the support of sponsors, and in challenging times especially, their backing makes all the difference. A sincere thank you to Air Napier for your significant involvement and support of the show, it is truly appreciated 💯

It was also fantastic to see riders travelling from the South Island, making such a big effort to be part of the event. To have you come through with such quality horses and ponies added something truly special to the show, thank you for going the extra mile to be there.

Alongside the 3 days of judging, I also felt incredibly blessed to be one of the judges of the Derby class—what an outstanding twist to Show Hunter that delivered something truly exciting. Congratulations to all the riders who put themselves out there in that class and gave it a go—you made it a highlight.

To see the series classes go ahead, and to have dedicated awards, was something truly meaningful. The transformation of the woolshed was absolutely outstanding, and the organisation across the three days -from timing to flow to presentations—ran so smoothly. It was a credit to everyone behind the scenes.

A special congratulations to Ash and the entire team, your hard work, vision, and commitment did not go unnoticed.

It was also a pleasure to connect with fellow judges, and to witness the quality of ponies and horses, the beautiful grounds, and most of all, the smiles and dedication from the riders. The effort, passion, and pride shown by everyone involved is something really special, and it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

I feel very grateful to have been part of it and to have shared in such a positive and uplifting few days.
