Ideas for the 2026 Festival are already flowing and we're asking you for feedback to help shape what comes next.

There’s so much on offer in the arts world, and we’ll continue to respond to what you're telling us. That’s the best part of Festival planning – hearing what people loved, and what they’d love to see more of.

Whether you attended one show, many or none at all, your thoughts help us grow, improve, and continue to create a Festival that reflects and celebrates our community.

Plus - to say thank you for your time, if you complete the survey you'll go into the draw to win a $200 Prezzy Card!

Complete the survey at the link in bio 🙏

Today at 2pm - less than 5 tickets available!

On the final day of the Festival, ‘This, in Here’ will perform at the Hastings Arts Centre.

Taken from 70+ conversations had over three days during the HBAF 2022, this social theatre piece explores what it means to 'be at home' in Heretaunga.

From the darkness of a lonely childhood to a sunny spot in the garden, this work weaves together stories, insights, memories and hope lifted from the lived experience of Hastings' people told in their own words.

Designed and created by Jess Soutar Barron and Glen Pickering with additional research and writing by Bridget Freeman-Rock and realised by an ensemble of Hawke's Bay performers in voice, movement and theatre practice.

On Thursday, Hawke’s Bay audiences had the privilege of being the first in the world to experience Holding Ground and Intensional Particle, presented by The New Zealand Dance Company - a breathtaking collaboration between Moss Te Ururangi Patterson and Japanese artist Hiroaki Umeda.

An extraordinary fusion of movement, light and sound, this world premiere performance was a true highlight of the Festival - and we’re so proud to have hosted it here in Hawke’s Bay.

Thank you to Napier City Council - Te Kaunihera o Ahuriri Napier Municipal Theatre, and of course The New Zealand Dance Company.

From silent discos and sequins to powerful storytelling and standing ovations -this Festival has been full of unforgettable moments. And we’ve loved every minute of it.

But we’re not done yet.

This weekend, we close the Festival with a bang - and it’s all building to the spectacle that is Cirque Bon Bon.
Four performances. World-class talent. Acrobatics, sequins and sparkle like Hawke’s Bay has never seen.

Plus:
~ A beautifully poetic indie-folk gig with Fables – Friday at Paisley Stage
~ Emotive, relevant local theatre This, In Here – Sunday at Toitoi

And don't forget, head over to the Hastings Arts Centre to explore two incredible exhibitions - Firing Season, and 110 Years of the Opera House.

Come curious. Leave inspired. This is your Festival.

Get tickets to this weekend's performances at hbaf.co.nz or on Eventfinda 🎪
