Money will buy you the lorry, it will buy you the yard and the horse with the breeding or experience, but it won't buy you the relationship. It won't buy you the ability to feel and connect on a totally different level with an animal that can't use words.
Money will buy you the hours of training with the best coaches, it will buy you best tack and all the grooms. But it won't buy you the ability to listen, not to words but to silence. It won't buy you the ability to hear when there is no sound.
There are some things that money just can't buy. It can't buy the first time your horse runs to you in the field, or the first time you feel them really try for that long one at the last fence in a jump off. It can't buy you the quiet moments, when you are just so present together than nothing else matters.
It’s easy to hold money accountable for everything. In reality, this sport is just as much about passion and drive as it is about money.
So if you haven't got the money to follow your dreams, don't give up. Money can be earned by anyone, but building a strong relationship with a horse? That is a privilege reserved for few.
So many of us look to money for the answers, without realizing, we're already rich.
