Trailing plants - the new vibe? It's more than a vibe, it's a new aesthetic/design solution.

Adding trailing plants such as Pothos, Heartleaf Philodendrons and Cissus, uniquely add a visual effect that compliments your floor standing plants.

Modern architecture can be softened with the addition of Monstera adansonii (Monkey Mask), or a delicate Ivy trailing along shelving, or flowing over the sides of cabinets.

Hanging or trailing plants can draw the eye upward, making a room feel larger. However, they are not just pretty plants, they remove toxins from the aire such as formaldehyde and benzene. They also reduce static often found in and around computer areas. They also help with noise reduction and generally adds and ambience that helps with stress levels.

Many trailing plants are quite okay in lower light levels, but they do benefit from some non direct sun light.

2026 and there is a new trend in office planting - it's called "biophilic design". This trend uses planting as a functional part of the reception and office area. Not just decoration. Living walls are ideal for creating division of areas and adding visual texture to sometimes minimalist office spaces.



Plants recommended for their air cleaning qualities.

For standard office environments, these varieties are recommended for their resilience and air-purifying qualities:

Snake Plant (Sansevieria): This is one of the top rated air purifiers. Needs little care.

ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia): Needs very little light so often used for offices with few windows and fluorescent lighting.

Cast Iron Plant (Aspidistra elatior): Extremely tolerant of temperature swings so ideal for offices where the aircon is on during the day and off at night in every season.

Trailing & Desk Plants:

Pothos/Heart Leaf philodendron:

These plants are vines that trail from the top of cabinets and shelves or hanging baskets. They are also tolerant to low light levels.

Spider Plant: This is an old favourite especially since it produces babies. It soaks up toxins from the air such as formaldehyde.

Flowering & Statement Plants:

Peace Lily: This is a very forgiving plant which shows when it needs water by going droopy. Sometimes not popular because of the pollen and fragrance which can make some people react.

Monstera Deliciosa: A trendy choice for larger spaces; it prefers bright, indirect light but can adapt to lower light levels.
