FUN FACT FRIDAY ❤️
A few weeks ago, we shared the names of the trustees who became the first board members of the Feilding Civic Centre Trust when the Trust Deed was signed on 8 July 2004.
This week’s Fun Fact is not only a fact, but also an acknowledgement and thank you to someone who has shown an incredible commitment to the Feilding Civic Centre, its staff and our community since the Trust began. 🥰
This week, after 22 years, 2 months and 23 days, the venue farewelled its last original trustee - Lindsay Taylor.
Wow… what a commitment to our community! 👏
Lindsay has been much more than just a trustee who turned up to the monthly board meetings. Over the years, he has given countless hours of his own time to support the venue and the community.
His knowledge and expertise in sound, lighting, theatre and electrical work have been invaluable. His extensive theatre knowledge has helped shape and develop the venue we have today.
Lindsay has always been willing to lend a hand - whether that meant helping with event set-ups and pack-downs, attending working bees, assisting staff when something needed fixing, or tackling maintenance jobs that others might think twice about.
If something needed to be repaired or investigated, Lindsay was often the first one to volunteer. Under the floor? No problem. Up a ladder? No problem. Tight or enclosed spaces? Apparently, not a problem either! 😂
Lindsay has always been there when the venue and its staff needed an extra pair of hands, and his contribution over the past 22 years has been enormous.
We would also like to acknowledge Margaret, (Lindsay’s wife), who has supported Lindsay and the Civic Centre over the years. Margaret could often be found alongside Lindsay helping with sound and lighting at events, and she became a real pro on the spotlight!
In fact, only a few weeks ago, Lindsay and Margaret were both here helping with testing and tagging electrical cables for the venue.
That really says it all.

Thank you for your commitment, your knowledge, your time, your willingness to help and, most importantly, for always being there when the venue and its staff needed you.
22 years, 2 months and 23 days is an incredible length of service to one organisation.
The Civic Centre has certainly been lucky to have you.
