Kiritai – Beyond the Walls x Tūpuna Maunga Authority 📸

60 rangatahi came together on Maungakiekie, rain and all, for a powerful day of kōrero, connection and creativity.

Massive mihi to Te Whatu Stardome 🌧️✨ for welcoming us in last minute — such incredible manaakitanga that kept our kaupapa moving.

From whakapapa shared by kaumātua Joe Pihama, to whakawhanaungatanga through taonga tākaro with LeRoy Paul, our rangatahi stayed grounded in kōrero and culture. Once the weather cleared, it was back outside capturing the maunga through their own lens 📷

Ngā mihi to all who made it happen — we can’t wait to see this mahi come to life in the upcoming exhibition 👏

⏳ Then and now at Ōwairaka / Te Ahi-kā-a-Rakataura.

This Tūpuna Maunga has stood over Tāmaki Makaurau for more than 120,000 years, carrying stories, history, and cultural significance through generations.

Today, visitors can still discover terraces, stone walls, and storage pits while enjoying native plants, birdlife, and stunning views from the tihi.

When visiting, please stick to formed paths and help protect this special place for future generations. 💚
