A message to everyone who joined us for the Hawarden Forest Trail Ride...
The Hawarden-Waikari Lions Club would like to sincerely thank every rider who came along and supported this year's trail ride. Your participation means a great deal to us.
The funds raised from events like these are a vital part of what allows us to give back to our local community, helping support young people from our two local schools with sporting, cultural and educational opportunities.
We hope you had a fantastic day out on the trails, and we look forward to welcoming you back for the next ride!

A longer main course marked for the Hawarden Forest Trailride Sunday 19 July. 5 Enduro options to mark with plenty of challenges and single track. Nice warm North West day with no frost so good for drying out the carpark.

Hawarden Forest Trailride Postponed to Sunday 19 July 2026
Was still raining at Hawarden Forest Thursday morning when I had a meeting with the NZ Carbon Farms Forest Manager. With the car parking area very water logged after 40-50mm of rain wew have decided postponement best option at this stage. Riders will enjoy this circuit after track clearing this year to lengthen the main course. Please note no peewee circuit but there will be Novice and Childrens shortcut options. Enduro options will be longer also after track clearing so all riders will enjoy one of the few forestry trailride events. A Waikari/Hawarden Lions Club fundraiser, they will have food and drinks available to purchase on the day.

Had a look at the main course and marked a 5-6k Novice Children’s short loop for the Ward School Trailride Sunday 28 June 2026. Really diverse terrain with some great Enduro options.
