Want to extend a hearty embrace to all our incredibly stylish & talented artists; Alphabethead, Young Ghost, Ferby, Joseph, Kommi, Tay, Nanka, Rosa, Razor, Flandiz [+ that Bruce guy I guess...]—you all smashed it out the mf ballpark with style & grace. Infinite aroha ###
Massive shout out to all the crew/legendz at Ōhinehou Coffee Co for helping us pimp out the place respectfully and making set-up/pack-down so breezy. Special thanks to bossman Stephen for trusting us to do this [not his usual cuppa long black] & Jamie the sound guy for manning the helm all night. Big chur!!
Lastly but not leastly, all you beautiful bastards that bought a ticket, came through to lend an ear to the lyrical stylings and shook your asses off when the time permitted. You are the real MVPs and we can't do this s**t without ya! Nuff respekt 🙏❤️🔥
*The sad reality:
We ended up only selling 1/3 of the tickets which is understandable in this cost of living crisis [$50 is a lot, then you have to buy drinks, etc. It adds up, we get it...] but we want to pay our artists appropriately for the time and energy invested in their craft + performance—it's a tough time to be an artist in Aotearoa so we want to help our gifted gangsters out as much as possible.
Full transparency, we made $1450 from online tickets + $300 from door sales [which was enough to pay the sound-guy].
Flights for Bad Taste were $650—which leaves $800 to split between 5 acts, which already on the butt-end of what Bad Taste's booking fee would normally be...
So what we're begrudgingly saying is; if you bought a ticket, thank you so fu***ng much, ignore this, you've done your part.
If you got in for free for whatever reason, please consider sliding a little koha these ways so we can pay our artists for their outstanding talents, time & energy. We would be eternally grateful and less depressed by the financial reality of running cool underground events for our small but mighty community of sweet humanz in this capitalist hellscape. BPSC will not be making any profit from this event but f**k it...we had a blast putting it on + hope you did too!! 💛☢️
