It’s been a while since there was a certain buzz around a gig, a vibe that humans were leaning into, hedging their bets that the night in question would over-deliver on it’s PROMISE.

Welcome to DIG THE GIG Christchurch Heat 3 last Wednesday night - if you weren’t there it was insane!

First and foremost - POWER TO ALL THE FEMALE LEAD SINGERS & MUSICIANS! You were AMAZING!

Josh Braden warmed up the PA - we are pretty lucky in this town to have a genius like Josh show up blow our mind!

The Frankies set the stage alight - laid back tunes, laid back dudes, lead singer Eddie Holdsworth was in control and guided the band superbly - they wrote their two originals for their debut DTG set.

Steampunk Fish had an itch to scratch - Jessie Ricard is one powerful redheaded women that drove the band so hard you could smell burning rubber throughout the packed venue! Awesome set!

Sweet Pea lead by the glorious Olivia Eady had the glowing full house in the palm of their creative hands. A band that we all need right now! They made a memory and stole a pice of time. Congrats on making it through to the final.

Indefinite Descent the cool calm and collected metal band - they have all the track/tricks and played a set to be proud of.

Hotel Emily proved that you can have fun regardless of having very little time at the crease - in a years time they will be the band you’ll be hearing about! I will put a slab of DTG Lager on it.

Banned played subtle and soft - great to see the cello on stage, they are one of those bands that have the art of being felt before being heard.

Crisis - Wholly F**k! What a set, what a band, what a performance, what a dream night for all that were present.

Lauren Marshall our Host with the Most was in superb form steadying the DTG Rock N’ Roll Ship through some pretty chaotic waves!

Thanks to the FANS that supported their bands until the end.

Thanks Wright Family Foundation & our epic sponsors for keeping the AMPs warm.

Thanks to our ARS Hospitality Hero’s

Karlee & Hazel for capturing the MADNESS!

Thanks Gussys Pizza

Thanking BEERS for the DIG THE GIG Rock N Roll Lager - it sold out AGAIN!

It takes a wonderful village here at DIG THE GIG HQ to keep the amps running hot and the kick drum thumping to ensure that we are celebrating, exposing and nurturing our awesome NZ tertiary bands and artists to audiences both nationwide and internationally that should know about them but don’t.

Everyone needs a big hug - luckily we have had some big hugs of late from some wonderful humans, brands and businesses that love what we have all been achieving here at DIG THE GIG since 2021 - please share the love and make sure you make yourself know to everyone of them - without their support and positive energy our DTG NZ Tertiary Bands would not be heard, felt and seen. Its important work and we need to keep it going.

All gave some but some gave all!

DIG THE GIG Christchurch Heat 2 on Wednesday night at A Rolling Stone certainly created a few colourful memories!

Local lads Assembly Required took over the house-band duties with vigour and precision - they know how to play and delivered the goods big time! A powerful three piece - if you haven’t seen them live your a kidney down!

Wild Wild East were the first tertiary band of the night to break the seal - these guys played well, when both guitarists hit their straps wonderful moments were felt!

Hattford sounded as good as they looked! Metal meets jazz fusion meets funk - it was a cool set, they were loud, gave 110 % and they friggin killed it!

Equilibrium might be the next big thing - what we all witnessed on Wednesday night was simply outstanding - firstly it’s our first band from ARA to embrace the DTG Family - secondly words cant describe what actually happen! Holly Cats Teeth! Id pay $100 bucks to see them at the big final - say no more and congrats for making the finals! You were insane!

One would presume that coming on after a band like Equilibrium would be a somewhat daunting ordeal but not for Sandfly - the night just kept swelling, Sandfly played the show of their lives! Tight as a nuns nasty this could be the best three piece in the Garden City EVER! - 70s rock n roll is back! Wild Card might be calling!

The Perfect Gun lead they do not follow - The Perfect Gun make the rules only to be broken by themselves -The Perfect Gun are exactly that - congrats on making the final.

Lauren Marshall our host with the most had another blinder!

Thanks to the Wright Family Foundation and all our epic sponsors for keeping the AMPs warm and the bands well oiled!

To our A Rolling Stones Hospitality Hero’s - thanks for looking after us.

Gussys Pizza is out the gate!

Thanking BEERS for the DIG THE GIG Rock N Roll Lager - it sold out!

All gave some but some gave all.

Wild Wild East lean into metal and psychedelic genres but also note that “you cant go wrong with two guitars, bass and some drums”! Everyone here at DTG HQ totally agrees!

Hatford & The Insomniacs entered into this awesome comp as two separate bands - s**t went down and they are now one supergroup and we cant wait to see them take to the stage! How cool is that?

The Perfect Gun are exactly that - they blew the roof of the venue last year and from all accounts it could be their year! A show not to be missed!

Equilibrium are influenced by Polyphia and Intervals - it’s going to be a special night for these young cats and the FANS - our first band from ARA to play at DTG and that’s fu***ng cool as!

Sandfly arrived on the scene last year, very calm and casual characters that will leave the distinct taste of 70’s inspired rock in your mouths!

Sweat Pea have arrived and thank the dear lord for their praises! “dreamy indie pop with soft vocals drifting over shimmering guitars” what a band to end what will be one of the best DTG Heats in the history of the comp!

Bring your mechanic, bring your mistress, bring your shrink and bring the CHAOS!

The Decibel Meter Never Lies!
