The above link provides information for your consideration if you are attending a gathering (16 March 2030hrs).
Current advice, amongst other points, includes :
Do not attend if you are feeling unwell
Do not attend if you have just arrived back from overseas (excluding the Pacific Iislands) within 14 days prior to the race date
Practice good hygiene especially hand hygiene and sneeze etiquette.
You will know that gatherings of over 500 have been asked by the Governement to be cancelled. The Government also said that they will be making an announcement on smaller gatherings during this week - this is the annoucement that will affect the Kaiwara. We will take into account Government advice as well as make a decision as a club - considering the health of our (many) older Cheviot Lions members and spouses who act as marshals on the day.
We are listening to current advice from the Ministry of Health not social media outlets
In the event that a government directive cancels this year Kaiwara Classic - participants will be refunded their entry fee (less any credit card processing fee charged by the banks). The refunds will be processed promptly after the cancellation. In the meantime, if you do feel unwell and need to withdraw then you can process a cancellation yourself. If you have any difficulty then contact Robert on [email protected].
On 16 March 2020, the Government advised public events or mass gatherings where 500 or more people are together in one place, at one time should be cancelled. Examples include concerts, festivals and sports matches.
