Strangles (a highly contagious equine illness) is currently on the rise across the Waikato. To protect the horses, we have made the decision to cancel the Winter Training event on 17th and 18th July.

Our August Show on the 14th and 15th will go ahead as planned for now, and we will let you know if anything changes.

July Training Days update 📣

Great news for our pony riders. With school holidays on and more ponies expected at the July training days, we've adjusted the programme to add two pony classes at the start of each day: 80cm and 90cm.

This means correct distances for our pony combinations.

The gates are open at Takapoto Estate today and tomorrow for the first Winter showjumping training event of the season.

We're welcoming back riders and horses for a more informal day of local horsesport, and spectators are very welcome too ☕🍷

We're looking forward to welcoming you back to the arenas at Takapoto Estate for our first Winter training of 2026. The weather forecast is looking great! ⛅ Friday and Saturday, 9am start.

Riders: the draws are up on Equipe. It's Fieldays week, so expect roads to be busy, and keep that in mind when travelling with your precious cargo.

And if you're visiting on Saturday, there's the option to shoot across to The Cabana for a wine tasting, 11am - 4pm.
