Controversial one this: 😏

“If you are a gym bunny where you pay to suffer and call it fun why not turn up for a run. We don't charge anything as we don't have to buy the mirrors!!!! But be warned unlike the gym the warm up will be shorter than the workout”

So… that’s your sign.

No contracts. No swipe cards. Just legs, lungs, and the sudden realisation halfway that this was is “light exercise.”?????

🏃‍♂️ Thursday Night Run — 6pm from Redwood Town Hall

Just a bunch of runners trying to look casual while secretly negotiating with gravity. We will even make you wear one of those flattering Hi - Vis vests that everyone loves ( I here they are all the rage for Milan this coming season). So pull yourself away from the mirrors, forget about the selfies and filters. And I can promise you won't see a single ring light.

I won't tell you again... 🤨

(That's a lie. I probably will. But this is your best chance to pretend you remembered all by yourself.)

🏃 Queen Charlotte Relay – Saturday 19th September

If your team currently exists only as a conversation that starts with "We should do that this year..." then consider this your nudge.

Grab five runners, choose a team name that's either brilliant or embarrassing, and enjoy one of New Zealand's best road relays from Picton to Havelock.

Workplace teams—this is your moment. Tell the boss it's all about health, wellbeing and team culture... then quietly race the local competition for bragging rights that will last until next September.

🔗 Entries are open:

🏔️ Then there's the Molesworth Run – Saturday 21st November.

An 84 km run across spectacular high country.

You can:
😇 Enter solo if you're an ultra-running machine.
😅 Enter as a team of 2 if you have one really good friend.
😄 Enter as a team of 4 if you have three friends who make questionable decisions.

Either way, it's an incredible day out in some of the most stunning country you'll ever run through.

So don't be the person who says...

"I was going to enter..."

We've all heard that one before. 😉

A fun road relay racing along the picturesque Queen Charlotte Road between Picton and Havelock. Featuring amazing views of the Sounds, beaches, native bush and rolling green farmland.

It's not only Friday - Pie day it's also a Super Fun day - Super Pun day. You're whale-come

When life gets a little over-whale-ming, it's best to take some time out for yourself!

This week we have a new run for the club and it's going to be FIN-TASTIC. So come along and have a whale of a time - on the **Ward Whale Trail**!

📍 Meet: Tomorrow Saturday 25 July at Flaxbourne Heritage Centre, 57 Ward Street, Ward
🕜 Time: 1:45 pm for a 2:00 pm start

This is an out-and-back run/walk, so go as far as you like before turning around. Whether you're running, walking, or just enjoying the scenery, everyone is welcome.

🚶 **Walkers' option:** Meet everyone at Ward, then head to Hauwai (near Lake Grassmere) and enjoy the walk back towards Ward.

🏛️ Bonus: If you've never visited the Flaxbourne Heritage Centre, head over a little early for a look around. Entry is $10, and it's well worth a visit. Just don't leave it until after the run—it closes at 3:00 pm.

🍰 Stay afterwards for a shared afternoon tea and a catch-up.

🚗 **Carpooling:** An informal meet-up will be at Redwoodtown Community Hall (Weld Street). Be there by 12:45 pm for a 12:50 pm departure to Ward. No formal arrangements—just a chance to share a ride or offer a spare seat.

That it for today, you might not have heard the Fat Lady singing but I'm sure that you can hear the ORCA-stra.

SEA ya there! 🐳

**Tonight’s run is paced somewhere between tortoise and “is she okay?”** 🐢😏

So if you’re looking for a run that’s more fun than fast, and more laugh than lactic acid…

Don’t just stand there — get a move on. 😉

🏃‍♂️ **Thursday Night Run — 6pm from Redwood Town Hall**

This isn’t about smashing PBs. It’s about showing up, moving your legs, and convincing yourself that jogging in the dark is actually a “great idea.”

No pressure. No judgement. Just a bunch of people pretending hills are optional, gravity is negotiable and age doesn't matter.

So lace up, turn up, and let’s see what pace “comfortable” really means tonight.

See Ya There

I told you once already... again😏
..but apparently some of you need a second reminder. (We're runners, not listeners.)

🏔️ First up... the Molesworth Run – Saturday 21st November

Ever looked at 84 km and thought, "That seems like a perfectly reasonable way to spend a Saturday"?

No?

Excellent. Enter as a team of 2 or 4 and spread the suffering around! Or, if you're one of those mysterious ultra runners who actually enjoys this sort of thing... go solo.

It's an unforgettable run through New Zealand's biggest high-country station, with scenery so good you'll almost forget your legs have stopped cooperating.

🏃 Not quite ready for 84 km?

Then how about convincing four friends to join you for the Queen Charlotte Relay – Saturday 19th September.

Five runners. Five legs. Beautiful Queen Charlotte Drive. Zero excuses.

This is one of New Zealand's iconic road relays and it's become a favourite for workplace teams.

Here's your mission:
✔️ Convince the boss it's "professional team development."
✔️ Get work to pay the entry fee.
✔️ Order matching shirts.
✔️ Beat the boss's team.
✔️ Never let them forget it.

🔗 Enter here:

Whether you're chasing an ultra, a relay, a personal best, or just an excuse to wear lycra in public, now's the time to get your entries sorted.

Remember... friends don't let friends leave entering until the week before.

Molesworth Run 2026 The Molesworth Station is New Zealand’s largest high country station and is located in the upper half of the South Island. Our 84 km ultra running event runs from the Molesworth Cob Cottage to Hanmer Springs through the Molesworth Station. The race can be done as a Solo-runner,...

Thursday Night Run — aka your weekly voluntary bad decision 😏

It’s that time again… when sensible people are home on the couch, and the rest of us are trying to convince ourselves that running in the dark is “refreshing”.

If you’re reading this, you’ve already been mentally signed up.

🏃‍♂️ Ready to run at 6pm from Redwood Town Hall

No complicated entry process. No fitness test. No excuses accepted (we’ve heard them all anyway).

It’s social..., it’s slightly chaotic..., Robbie's definitely going to get lost..., Jason will blindly follow Robbie..., and it always ends with the same sentence:
“That was actually pretty good… we should do it again.”

So if you’re keen for a run, a laugh, or just an excuse to leave the house and pretend it’s “training”…Get yourself down there.

🚨 Entries are OPEN! 🚨

🏃 Queen Charlotte Relay – Saturday 19th September

Time to stop saying "Yeah, we should put a team in" and actually put a team in!

Find five runners (or four runners and that one mate who's always "just getting back into it") and tackle one of New Zealand's last remaining road relays.

Five legs. Stunning scenery. Questionable team names. Lifelong bragging rights.

🏢 Workplace teams, this one's for you! Convince the boss it's "team building," get the company to pay the entry fee, order some matching shirts, and then spend the rest of the year reminding everyone in the office who carried the team.

⛰️ And if that somehow isn't enough...

The Molesworth Run – Saturday 21st November is also open for entries.

An 84 km adventure across New Zealand's largest high-country station from the Molesworth Cob Cottage to Hanmer Springs.

Run it solo if you've completely lost the plot, or sensibly share the fun (and the sore legs) in a team of 2 or 4.

🔗 More info and entries:
https://harriers.net.nz/events/molesworth-run/

So this is your official reminder.

No more "I didn't know entries were open."

No more "I meant to organise a team."

And definitely no more waiting until the fast runners have already been snapped up.

Get your team together... before your only remaining option is recruiting Uncle Dave, who still reckons he could've won nationals if his hamstring hadn't gone in 1998. 😂

A fun road relay racing along the picturesque Queen Charlotte Road between Picton and Havelock. Featuring amazing views of the Sounds, beaches, native bush and rolling green farmland.

08/07/2026

It’s Thursday night… you know what that means. 😏

No, not “early bedtime and good intentions for tomorrow.”

It means Harriers night run.
Redwoodtown Hall ready to run at 6pm.

This is the one where you:

-swear it’ll be an “easy jog”
-accidentally turn it into a race within 400 metres
-spend the last 10 minutes questioning your earlier bravado
-and finish feeling like a hero… again

All welcome. All abilities. No judgement (except the silent judgement you place on yourself ).

Bring:
✔️ Running shoes
✔️ A head torch (unless you enjoy surprise ankle testing)
✔️ A bit of honesty about your current fitness level

Leave behind:
❌ Excuses
❌ “I’ll start again next week”
❌ That promise you made to yourself about “taking it easy”

Because let’s be honest… it’s never easy. It’s just fun in hindsight.

See you out there. Or see you regretting not coming when Strava starts posting everyone else’s smiling faces. 😉

What a fantastic day yesterday at the Marlborough-Nelson cross country champs. Real winter conditions with a few stream crossings and plenty of mud. Special thanks to the landowners who let us use their farm, which was a spectacular cross country course.
A shout out to the marshals and time keepers who did a fantastic job pointing us in the right direction.

🚨 RIGHT... WHO'S THE TEAM CAPTAIN? 🚨

You know who you are. The organiser. The one who gets volunteered every year. Time to dust off the group chat and start recruiting!

🏃 Queen Charlotte Relay – Saturday 19th September

One of New Zealand's last remaining road relays is back!

Find 5 people, convince them that running is fun (or at least that the post-race food is worth it), and take on the beautiful Queen Charlotte Drive from Picton to Havelock.

With legs ranging from 5.1 km to 8.6 km, there's something for everyone—from the speedy gazelles to those whose race strategy is simply "don't get passed."

💼 Calling all workplace teams!
This event is perfect for workmates. Hit up the boss to cover the entry fee, suggest some flash team shirts, and then spend the next few months reminding the accounting department who's actually the fastest.

⛰️ Feeling slightly unhinged?

Then the Molesworth Run – Saturday 21st November might be your kind of day!

An 84 km journey across New Zealand's largest high-country station from the historic Molesworth Cob Cottage to Hanmer Springs.

Go it alone if you're feeling brave, or spread the suffering by entering as a team of 2 or 4. Sharing the pain is still sharing... right?

🔗 More information and entries:
https://harriers.net.nz/events/molesworth-run/

So... who are you calling first? The fast friend? The reliable friend? Or the one who always says, "I probably won't train, but I'll give it a crack!" 😄

Get your teams sorted before someone pinches your best runner!
