What a great couple of days at the Passive House Conference in Auckland! We had the privilege of running two workshops on recessed window installation and a Pecha Kucha presentation on why uPVC is the smart choice for Passive House builds.

The passion and collaboration in the room were great to see, and this is exactly the kind of community that moves our industry forward. Thank you Passive House Institute New Zealand for having us!

July in pictures: here's a look at what's been happening on the ground this month.

From the factory floor, where every frame is fabricated with precision, to building sites across the country where our uPVC windows and doors are going in, it's been a busy one. We also had the team out at BuildNZ, where we had great fun connecting with builders, designers, and homeowners.

Not all windows are created equal. When it comes to window insulation, the difference is significant.

Reflecting on Buildnz last week:

It was great to connect with so many people who were keen to learn more about uPVC windows and doors. We had some great conversations about performance, and how we can build better than the minimum code, not just to it.

So many people we spoke to recognised uPVC from their time living overseas and thanked us for offering it to the NZ market. It was positive to see so many people already aware of uPVC and the importance of high-performance joinery.

Thank you to Resident Builder Peter Wolfkamp for joining us each day and sharing his knowledge with everyone who stopped by as well.

It was an extremely positive event, and it was great to be part of it alongside so many good companies who are doing great things in the industry.

On Thursday 6 August, we're opening Arbor Green for a mid-build site tour, while the performance systems are still on show.

The homes at Liana Lane, Rolleston are enclosed and weathertight, but the structural insulated panels are still exposed in places. The first round of airtightness testing is done. For a short window, the decisions that make these homes warm, quiet, and more affordable to run are visible before the cladding covers them for good.

Come on site with our team and some of our key suppliers, Formance Our Basis and Ambiance by STÄRKE for a look inside. You'll see the systems that do the work, the PHPP modelling and mid-build blower door results that prove performance up to 50% better than code, and the townhouses themselves. There's a short address on what makes them perform, guided tours, and lunch on us.

Project spotlight

This one-bedroom bach looks good and performs even better. With our uPVC Inline Window System, it'll stay comfy and condensation free.

The windows are installed recessed rather than sitting flush with the outer face of the wall. This aligns the window with the insulation in the wall, significantly improving draughts and warmth in the home.
