Spring is here, and so is the season of open windows.

uPVC or PVC?
Ken explains the difference that little 'u' actually makes. 'Unplasticised' means the heavy metals and harmful additives are stripped out, so what you get is a safer, more stable material for your home.

eHaus Taranaki are currently building this high performance home, using our uPVC windows. They are holding an Open Construction Day there on 8 October, and you're invited. You'll get to tour an eHaus while the build is still in progress, and get a unique look at the structural mechanics, thermal performance, and high-performance craftsmanship.

September in pictures: This month took us from construction sites to conference stages. We spent time at the eHaus - Redefining the way we live conference talking with people shaping New Zealand's high-performance building industry, then got to walk through one of their projects to see those principles in action.

On site, another install is taking shape with our windows soon going into a home built to last. And we meet so many of you in person at the Auckland Home Show, Nelson Home Show, the Home Ideas Christchurch New Home & Renovation Showcase, and the Arbor Green open day, talking uPVC, comfort, new builds and window upgrades.

It's been a big month! Here's to what's ahead for the rest of spring.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT:
Black Ambiance uPVC windows and doors complete the thermal envelope of Osler, a home in the Bay of Islands, drawing a striking contrast against the timber interior. Generous Ambiance doors open the living space out to the coast, blurring the line between inside and out.

Still got the original aluminium frames in your home? They probably don't meet today's Building Code requirements.

Aluminium windows were once the standard, but building requirements around energy efficiency and thermal performance have improved significantly and older aluminium frames simply weren't designed to meet them. If you're renovating or extending, that gap can catch homeowners out.

uPVC is a straightforward retrofit fix: better insulation, better thermal performance, and built to exceed the current building code, without compromising on the finish.

If you're planning a renovation, it's worth checking whether your existing frames would pass muster today.

Nothing goes to waste in our factory.

Every offcut from manufacturing, from the small trims to the larger drops, gets collected, ground down, and fed straight back into the extrusion line to become new uPVC profile. Ken's walking through the stages here: the chips, the larger pieces, the smaller pieces, and the grind that's ready to be re-extruded.

Our uPVC recycling journey is circular. The uPVC frame material we use is reprocessed and reused in new window profiles, again and again, so offcuts become part of the next frame instead of landfill.

Recycled content isn't an add-on for us. It's built into how our profiles are made.
