We regret to inform you that the Durian Festival, co-hosted by Chow Luck Club Foodie Market and Duria New Zealand originally scheduled for August 9, 2025, has been cancelled. There had been some shipment issues with the durians, and we have now been informed that there are no durians left this season, as they had been used by our suppliers in Malaysia for the production of durian moon cakes. We understand this is disappointing and apologize to everyone who was looking forward to being part of this event. We are committed to making it happen one day, but unfortunately can’t do it this time. So sorry.

Ailimteh has been selling pig stomach bak k*t teh from their secret menu, but at the Offal-y Good Festival Market tomorrow, everything will be out in the open. From liver Isaw skewers at Pinoy Treasures and Boat Noodles to offal topped Hungarian bread by Elephant Ears to offal-filled Thai Boat Noodles by Gigzap, enjoy the most delicious offal offerings. If you haven’t tried Filipino sisig, this Saturday will be a great chance for you to try this magical pork delight. There will be several stalls having it on offer, one of them is Pinoy Treasures and another is Pinaynz Bakermom. Pork jowls, ears, and snout are finely chopped, simmered, and then fried along with pork belly, and some of them also with liver for this dish. All seasoned with chillies and lime juice before being served. Then, there’s the must-have Filipino skewers Inihaw, grilled over charcoal, ranging from pork to offals such as intestines and served on bamboo skewers.

We are delighted to announce that Chow Luck Club Foodie Market will partner with Duria NZ for the inaugural Auckland Durian Festival on 9 August 2025. Duria is the exclusive agent and importer of Duria Malaysia products in New Zealand. They offer a variety of durian products, including whole fruits and pulp, with a particular emphasis on premium Malaysian Musang King Durian. Duria is a pioneer in Malaysia for manufacturing and exporting durian products.

Somewhere in Lao’s ancient Luang Prabang, you can be sure that someone is now slurping up a bowl of Khao Piak Sen. The country’s favourite soup noodle, you will find them being rustled up in street stall kitchens, morning markets and roadside carts. Fresh-made noodles from rice flour and tapioca starch, fried garlic, slivers of spring onions and ginger, coriander and boiled quail's eggs and shredded meat served in a bowl with steaming hot, thick soup. The salty, spicy, sweet combination of flavours makes this extremely addictive. Unlike neighbouring Vietnam’s famous beef pho, this noodle dish from Lao has remained unknown on the global gastronomy radar.
Beyond thrilled that Landy Luangkhen is bringing their version of Khao Piak Sen to the Takapuna Noodle Festival this Saturday. They are made from scratch in small batches, just like it’s done back in Luang Prabang. Each bowl is topped with fresh herbs, crispy garlic, and a touch of tradition. As they don’t have a restaurant, the noodle festival would offer a rare chance to try this Lao noodle dish.
