THANK YOU!!!

I would like to extend a huge thank you to those in the Equestrian Community who have reached out since our trailer and jump stands were stolen. There have been offers to help fundraise for new ones, offers to borrow equipment, offers to help with quotes and potentially a replacement trailer and equipment to purchase once the insurance battle has been won.

It has restored my faith and helped ease some of the disappointment in loosing everything. A special thank you to St Andrews-Koromatua Pony Club for loaning us the stands and cups to keep our events running for the last couple of weeks.

Although we managed to recover a few of the stands from a scrap metal dealer, there have been no sightings of the breakaway cups or trailer and the perpertrator/s have not been found. The ones found were only a tiny portion of what was stolen, but at least it was something I guess.

My aim is to replace the stands before the Horse Trial in October - actually we can't run that event without them, so that is d-day really. I do love a challenge.

Eventers........

For the August Express Event (on the 31st), we've been asked to consider adding a 1* and 2* Horse Trial class as extras for the day - in a one-day format - to enable riders to potentially obtain MERS for the start of the Eventing season events.

In theory - a great idea! And we've got permission from the ESNZ Eventing Board to do it.

BUT............ it all costs extra.

So - we need you!

Do you want this?

Will you come?

To clarify - it would be a traditional 1* and 2* Horse Trial class in a one-day format as extra to the Express Event run on the same day. The cross country would be both sides of the road as usual, dressage test tbc and show jumping on the polofield.

WEC can do it - and the budget suggests that 25-30 riders (over both classes) would get it across the line.

Eventing Auckland is sad to say goodbye and thank you to our secretary, Philippa Harder and treasurer, Monique Davey. Both Philippa and Monique have worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to keep everything running and they will be sorely missed.

Notably, neither Philippa nor Monique have family still competing, so their hard work has been solely for the love of eventing and Puhinui in particular.

Publication of this post has been delayed because we had hoped that Philippa would reconsider her decision. However, she is adamant that her decision is final.

We have been begging Monique to stay on for a number of years but a relocation to Whangarei where her husband has been appointed as a judge has put an end to that!
