Our next workshop tutor profile is the lovely Cheryl Van Heerden! Cheryl will be tutoring two workshops at convention: a palm in a pot and a side table.

We asked Cheryl a few questions to find out more.

I have always loved little things, and over the years filled multiple printerโ€™s trays and bookshelves.

In 2017, an opportunity to view Queen Anneโ€™s miniature house at Windsor Castle inspired me as never before, and a corner cabinet in our home was soon taken over by my new obsession with making and collecting beautiful little things. Shelf by shelf the cabinet was transformed, first by a dining room display, then a sumptuous lounge setting, followed by an elegant bedroom, a well-appointed kitchen, and a nostalgic backyard scene. Minimum World, Little Bits and Pieces, and an array of books and magazines kept my imagination and creative impulses flowing.

I have since run several workshops at Uxbridge in Howick as well as at Convention, and also set up stalls at local markets from time to time. Meeting people involved in the world of miniatures, and experiencing their creativity and enthusiasm, has inspired me even more, and the adventure continues.

๐—™๐˜‚๐—ป ๐—™๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜: I have lived almost exactly half my life in Africa, and the latter half in New Zealand, and consider myself a Kiwi through and through, and an avid fan of the All Blacks.

A helpful tip from Cheryl: Be inspired, be bold, be accurate, and be patient. And always remember, practice makes perfect.

With registrations closing for workshops in a couple of weeks (15 August), we thought we would profile some of the workshops and tutors over the next few days!

Vicki Taylor has been a NZAME tutor for many years and has tutored workshops at conventions in NZ and Australia plus many for the Garden City Club.

For the Easy Landscaping workshop, you'll make make a range of items for your garden: two window boxes, two rectangle planter boxes, four planters with trellis, two topiary tubs, and two flower tubs and hedges.

Itโ€™s fun and easy workshop and the techniques you will learn can be used in all Dollshouse scales!
