The New Zealand LGBTI Awards which celebrate the LGBTI community is a New Zealand first.
The first of its kind in New Zealand, The New Zealand LGBTI Awards, are set to celebrate the extra-ordinary achievements in the LGBTI community.
Held a glitzy ceremony at The Cordis, Auckland on Thursday 29 November 2018, this event has been created “to draw attention to those LGBTI people and straight allies who are standing up to further advance LGBTI equality in New Zealand,” says Silke Bader, Director and MD of The New Zealand LGBTI Awards.
This event has been a huge international success in Sydney, London and New York City. “With these awards we hope to create positive role models for young New Zealanders who might be struggling with their identity,” adds Silke.
Also known as the they ‘Gay Oscars’, not only do these awards celebrate celebrity role models they also highlight the achievements of corporate and business allies. Corporations and organisations in New Zealand who have aligned themselves already with the message of equality and inclusion are a great guide for other companies who want to have more diversity and inclusion in their organisation.
