Anyone for a parkup, not long now in Whakatane 👍👍

Reckon any of these would pass scrutineering?

The Strand in Whakatāne, has seen a few good line-ups. On Friday 30th October, we’re adding ours!

Come down from 4pm, get up close to the rally cars, meet the crews, grab an autograph and poster before they battle it out on Saturday.

Bring the kids, round up your mates and help us kick off rally weekend with a proper crowd for the ceremonial start.

See you on The Strand!

Because it's Friday and we're still not quite coming off the International Rally of Whangarei buzz just yet, we've reached into Geoff Ridder's albums and found a few special awards which come with the prestigious prize of a self administered pat on the back.

Finally is the 'S**t, We Did It award', and goes with a massive congratulations to Jack Hawkeswood and Jason Farmer, our 2026 NZRC champions elect, pictured here with Jack's father and 2017 champion Andrew, making the pair the first parent and offspring to take out New Zealand Rallying's ultimate prize!

Next is the 'Vertically Challenged award' because sometimes with an MRF behind you (or under as the case may be), things just aren't as they seem! Well done on the creative thinking, Pat Norris!

This one is the 'Supreme Sportsmanship award', it was great to see Brian & Anne Stokes amongst the first to offer their sincere congratulations to Jack & Jason at the rally finish after an amazing season long battle.

Next up is the 'Banana Tyre Grooving Award', showing just how much innovation is involved in rallying these days. Well done to Phil Macquarie for the innovation!

*Note - This post is only an attempt at humour, tyre grooving is not allowed in the NZRC and is not being implied in any way that it has taken place*
