A moment in the looking glass 🤍
My greatest gift in life has been becoming a mother… and also remaining a daughter, still held by the unconditional love, warmth and quiet strength of my own mum x
Motherhood has been my greatest journey.
At every stage it has brought out the best in me, softened me, stretched me, humbled me, and taught me the true gift of time… of slowing down enough to really be present x
Every day there are lessons that reach both backwards and forwards through time, between being a daughter, a mother, and one day, perhaps a grandmother x
Like so many parents, I doubt myself too.
Am I doing a good job?
Is Jaymie happy?
Have I made her resilient enough for this world, while still protecting the gentleness and authenticity of who she is?
But my thoughts as a parent reach beyond my own daughter too.
I think about the young people and adults in our community.
Are they happy?
Do they feel seen?
Are they challenged enough to grow, but not so overwhelmed that they lose themselves?
Have they made a new friend?
Do they leave feeling more confident, more connected, more empowered than when they arrived?
Because when you become a parent, something shifts forever.
You become a village of emotion, resilience, strength, protection, softness and care.
You begin carrying pieces of other people’s hearts alongside your own.
And maybe that is what motherhood truly is,
not perfection…
but the quiet, ongoing act of helping people feel safe enough to thrive 🤍
