The Stables are one of the spaces that make Karaka Pavilion unmistakably Karaka. 🐎🌿

Across our extensively manicured grounds sit nine stable buildings, each with 100 stalls. While they remain very much part of Karaka’s equine world, they also offer something quite different for private events.

The covered stable walkways can become intimate gathering spaces, long lunches, games areas and some rather special photography locations. For weddings, use of the stables for photography is included with venue hire, while other event ideas can be discussed with our venue manager.

They’re full of character, steeped in the history of the property and proof that some of our most interesting event spaces aren’t conventional function rooms at all.

There aren’t many venues where a working day can look quite like this. 🐎🌿

Karaka Pavilion sits within an environment where New Zealand’s thoroughbred industry is very much part of everyday life. One day the grounds and surrounding spaces are welcoming horses, vendors and buyers for the sales, and another they’re welcoming delegates for a conference, guests for a gala dinner or teams arriving for a corporate event.

For us, that’s part of what makes Karaka different. The equine heritage isn’t a theme we’ve added to the venue. It’s a living, working part of the place and has helped shape the character, grounds and spaces our event guests experience today.

With summer on its way, this is one of our favourite sights at Karaka Pavilion. ☀️🌿

The grounds are full, the umbrellas are up and there’s that familiar background hum of a good event underway. Conversations, laughter, the sounds of nature and somewhere behind it all, a team making sure everything keeps moving as it should.

There’s a lot of work that goes into a well-run event, much of which guests will never see. For us, that’s exactly how it should be. When the planning is done, the spaces are ready and people can simply enjoy being here, we know we’ve done our job.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing Karaka full of people and life, particularly under a blue Auckland summer sky.

It’s hard to believe we’re already three quarters through another incredible year of events.

Over the past six months, Karaka Pavilion has welcomed conferences, industry gatherings, gala dinners, expos, corporate functions and celebrations of all kinds. Every event has brought a different vision, and it’s been a privilege to see our spaces transformed time and time again.

Now, our attention turns to the last quarter of the year.

As the days are becoming longer and Auckland begins its journey back towards summer, we’re entering our busiest events season. From corporate Christmas functions and end-of-year celebrations to awards evenings, client events and festive dinners, calendars fill quickly, and the most sought-after dates are often secured well in advance.

Some themes just work, and over the years we’ve seen a few firm favourites return to Karaka Pavilion time and again.

Our top four? Yellowstone in the Garden Bar, a good old-fashioned hoedown, après-ski and, naturally for Karaka, A Night at the Races. 🤠🐎⛷️🏇

Each one brings a completely different atmosphere to the venue, which is half the fun. Across these eight photos you’ll see the same Karaka spaces take on four very different personalities, from western and country to alpine and race night.

Around 300 kids, a room full of families and a LOT of trophies. ⚽🏆

Yesterday the Sir Patrick Hogan Auditorium at Karaka Pavilion was filled for the Manurewa AFC Junior Prizegiving, celebrating another season and all the young players who have been part of it.

Prizegivings are always great events to be involved in. There’s plenty of excitement in the room, plenty of proud families in the audience and, with this many junior players together in one place, plenty happening from start to finish.

It’s also a good reminder of just how versatile the Auditorium at Karaka Pavilion is. From corporate conferences and gala dinners to community events and large-scale prizegivings like this one, it’s a space that can accommodate very different events and make each one work.

Congratulations to all the young Manurewa AFC players who took to the stage yesterday. We hope those trophies have found pride of place at home already. 🏆⚽
