Congratulations to the Mid Canterbury Children’s Theatre for your outstanding production of Beauty and the Beast. Seeing so many performers on stage aged from young children to young adults, it gives you heart that the performing arts is firmly established in our community. To the directing team, Anna Raukawa and Peter Cairns, what an outstanding job. Anna, your vision never wavered and was so well thought out. Your ability to work with a young cast, highlighting their own individual skill sets, was outstanding. Likewise with the vocal arrangements, Peter, has been able to enhance some very talented cast members, producing gorgeous harmonies adding vocal strength to the musical numbers. Congratulations must go to the wardrobe department. Your contribution to the show is immense . The costumes are amazing and with so many in the cast, it must have been a mammoth task fitting everyone. To the staging team, another amazing set that made full use of the Event Centres fly-system. And to the technical sound, lighting, stage managers, cue callers, props personnel, none of this would happen without your expertise. The Ashburton Event Centre was built for this very reason, and we congratulate each and every one of you who have created something special in our venue. We look forward to seeing you on our stage again soon.
