TEDxKathmanduUniversity

TEDxKathmanduUniversity is an independently organized, completely non-profit TED event scheduled for December 23, 2019, in the central campus premises, Kathmandu University. It is being conducted with the guidance from Department of Management Informatics and Communication, and the assistance of ‘Event Management,’ a unit of Kathmandu University. The university assimilates a mass of academics, learners, and change-makers with potential ideas worth spreading. It also has a large cohort of people, who can benefit from the talks in the event. TEDxKathmanduUniversity encompasses a handful of ideas to be delivered to those curious souls. Themed under the tagline ‘Connecting Dots,’ the event aims to impart the ideas circling around the following purviews: Research ideas and methodologies; perks of being multidisciplinary; the importance of technology, computation and networking; and individual agency.

ABOUT TED TED Conferences LLC, or simply TED, an acronym for ‘Technology, Entertainment, and Design,’ is a media organization with a mission of showcasing ‘Ideas worth spreading.’ The organization is celebrated for its semiannual conferences that bring together some of the world’s best movers, shakers, and thinkers. The TED platforms deliver the insightful talks — each in 18 minutes or less — to a room full of gifted minds. The organization also uploads its presentations online, where users can stream them for free at TED.com. TED's early emphasis was on technology and design. It has since broadened its perspective to include talks on many scientific, cultural, political, and academic topics. It is owned and curated by Chris Anderson, a British-American businessperson, through the Sapling Foundation.

TED is an annual event brings together the world's leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline — technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development. Diverse world leaders and influencers like Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan, Daniel Kahneman, among others, have already delivered their talks on TED platforms.

ABOUT TEDx TEDx, x = independently organized TED event A TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED-like talks and performances are shared with the community. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. The content and design of each TEDx event is unique and developed independently, but all of them have features in common. It is a suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances that are idea-focused, and cover a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder — and provoke conversations that matter. All TEDx events present multiple issues and a diversity of voices from many disciplines. A TEDx event is organized by volunteers from the local community, and just like TED events, it lacks any commercial, religious or political agenda. Its goal is to spark conversation, connection and community.
