Thanks to all of yesterday’s speakers for their engaging lectures and contributions: Ioannis Theodoridis, Espen Bjarnar and Tatiana Stachak. We also extend our sincere thanks to the luthiers and exhibitors who presented their wonderful instruments during the guitar exhibition throughout the day.

A very special thanks to Thomas Müller-Pering for wonderful concert in Levinsalen 🌹. We also thank the festival guitar orchestra, conducted by Tatiana Stachak, for the fantastic performance of her composition- Tango Pizzicato. ✨

And here is a small surprise – the tango will also be performed during tomorrow’s concert!

Two inspiring and intense days of Gitarkonferansen 2026 at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo are already behind us! 🤩

The conference is organized by the guitar department at NMH under the leadership of Eva Beneke, bringing together guitarists, pedagogues and students from many countries for concerts, lectures and masterclasses.

🎶 Yesterday’s opening concert took place at Majorstuen Church and was held under the patronage of the Portuguese Embassy. The audience experienced a beautiful evening of fado performed by:
• Marta Pereira da Costa
• João José Pita Júnior

The evening was also opened by Oslo Gitarkvartett, consisting of former students of the Norwegian Academy of Music: Jon Svenungsson, Elias Narendran, Tomas Laukvik Nannestad and Jonas Hald.

Over the past days, the conference has also offered inspiring masterclasses with artists such as:
• Thomas Müller-Pering
• Nejc Kuhar

Today’s conference session began with an engaging lecture by Thomas Müller-Pering on the music of Ferdinand Rebay.

Great interest was also sparked by the presentation of Tatiana Stachak, who shared insights into her pedagogical approach and her publications for young guitarists. The lecture will continue tomorrow at 13:00 and will also connect with the work of the guitar orchestra performing at tomorrow evening’s concert.

Today we also experienced a fantastic concert by Nejc Kuhar in Levinsalen – a program full of his own compositions, performed with a beautiful and very personal guitar sound.

The evening concluded with an exciting concert in Lindemansalen, where we heard Kim Myhr’s 12-string orchestra – a fascinating sound world created by many 12-string guitars. The concert continued with Håkon Storm-Mathisen Trio, presenting energetic and creative interplay at the intersection of improvisation and contemporary music.

We are looking forward to tomorrow’s events and concerts! 🎶

✨ Meet next guest! Thomas Müller-Pering✨ — an internationally acclaimed classical guitarist and professor, who has performed in nearly 40 countries and won prizes at major competitions, including the prestigious ARD Competition in Munich.

His artistic development was shaped by legendary figures such as Oscar Ghiglia, John Williams, and Manuel Barrueco, and his recordings and performances have earned major international recognition.
Alongside his concert career, Thomas is a highly respected professor and pedagogue, teaching for decades at leading German institutions including the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar and the Berlin University of the Arts

Known for his inspiring teaching and outstanding artistry, Thomas has influenced generations of guitarists through his concerts, recordings, and masterclasses around the world.

At the conference, he will present a special lecture on Ferdinand Rebay and his guitar œuvre, give masterclasses, and perform in a concert on March 7 in Levinsalen together with the festival guitar orchestra.

Don’t miss the chance to learn from and hear one of the leading voices of the classical guitar world.

Meet our next conference guest 🤩

We are delighted to welcome Tatiana Stachak — guitarist, composer, and one of today’s most influential guitar educators. A lecturer at the Academy of Music in Kraków, she is the author of internationally acclaimed teaching methods such as First Class Guitar and Extra Class Guitar, used by students and teachers around the world and published in multiple languages.

Her lifelong dedication to teaching — especially beginners and young students — has shaped a unique pedagogical approach that combines creativity, musical imagination, and solid technical foundations. Her compositions are featured in competition programs and exam syllabi, including ABRSM and Trinity College, and she regularly leads workshops and lectures across Europe and Asia.

At the conference, Tatiana will lead the conference guitar orchestra, give masterclasses, and present two inspiring sessions:
✨ “Make music from the first lesson” — exploring how to unlock musical expression from the very beginning of learning.
✨ “Teaching is an Art” — an interactive session on creativity, communication, and the deeper artistic dimension of pedagogy.

A multi-award-winning artist, combines virtuosity with deep musical insight. Educated in Vienna and holding a PhD in Music Research from the University of Surrey, he performs worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician. His works are published internationally, and his music has been performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues. Alongside his concert career, he is an active professor, lecturer and juror at leading institutions across Europe and the USA.
