Yggdrasil, the ash tree that, according to Norse mythology, stands at the center of the world.
Today, at VR-Forum, Tobias Barvik and Thomas U. Fosseli from Glitch Studios stood at the center of their world, delivering a fascinating presentation about their approach to Norse mythology and the mystique surrounding it.

Among the many interesting speakers at the Nordic VR Forum, George Ioannidis demonstrated an easy, simple, and cost-effective way to display artefacts in a museum using holograms. This approach could work well as an alternative way to tell a story.

At Nordic VR Forum – Museum Day, Tobias Barvik and Thomas Underhaug Fosseli from Glitch Studios will reveal the making of VIKING: The Myth of Yggdrasil — the first chapter in a three-part Norse mythology series built as large-scale, free-roam Location-Based VR (LBVR).

Partnering with universities in Ghana and Vietnam, Nick van Breda explores how civil engineering and urban planning expertise can be combined with XR, AI, and greenscreen tools to support the UN SDGs — and asks the big question: Is the world ready for it?

Nick is an ICT & Education Coach, social entrepreneur, and technology enabler. He’s known for hosting hackathons, unconventional events, and creative collaborations that build partnerships to tackle complex challenges. 🎧 Speaker & Workshop Spotlight: Oliver Kadel, 1.618 DIGITAL

What defines auditory immersion? At Nordic VR Forum 2025, multi-award-winning senior sound designer, recording and mixing engineer specialising in spatial and interactive audio for immersive media. Oliver will explore how spatial audio shapes immersive storytelling, communications, and XR experiences.

Based in London, Oliver has delivered interactive audio for 200+ immersive titles across VR, AR, MR, and 360 films, collaborating with Meta, Apple, Google, Dolby, Bang & Olufsen, Bose, Magic Leap, and more. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Spatial Psychoacoustics at the University of York, researching how sound impacts cognitive load and learning in VR training.

Oliver is also a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Motion Picture Sound Editors, and the Audio Engineering Society.

💡 In addition to his talk, Oliver will host a course under Workshop Day: “Introduction to Spatial Audio for Immersive Films” — a hands-on dive into spatial audio creation.

🌊 Speaker Spotlight: Helge Bjordal, Nagelld AS

How can VR accelerate the shift towards a Net-Zero Maritime Future? At Nordic VR Forum 2025, Helge Bjordal will show how VR supports the maritime industry in developing innovative ship designs and training crews to handle hydrogen, ammonia, sails, and other sustainable technologies. 🚢⚓

Helge has been programming animations since the late 80s. As the founder of Nagelld and co-founder of Spawn VR, he now works as a true VR evangelist — travelling across Norway and abroad to inspire industries to embrace immersive technology.
