2014 is a very special year for Norway. We celebrate the 200th anniversary of our Constitution and maritime Norway celebrates the 100th anniversary of our beloved s

ail training ship, SS Statsraad Lehmkuhl. What better way to mark these occasions than hosting The Tall Ships Races? This, and other maritime traditions combined with modern music and culture will be emphasized in our cultural program. Look forward to fuzz guitars, sing-alongs, ship whistles and free concerts from several stages! We intend to celebrate our Constitution by showing that Norway still is an important seafaring nation, founded upon the great days of sail. This will be symbolized by a spectacular Naming Ceremony of a new, modern vessel. The Tall Ships Races 2014 Bergen will send over 100 youth between 15 – 25 years old as sail trainees on some of the most magnificent ships in the world, in the regatta from Bergen to Esbjerg. Sign up, and be a part of the crew on board: you’ll take part in the different shifts and will among other things get the opportunity to join sailing maneuvers and enter the masts.
