Part of the magic of Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht lies its beautiful historical locationsโœจ

At the Domkerk Utrecht, some of the biggest names will take the stage. Vincent Dubois (.dubois.organist) โ€“ organist at Notre-Dame in Paris โ€“ pays homage to the organ builders of his cathedral. The award-winning Tenebrae Choir () performs vocal works by William Byrd, and many more exceptional musicians are on the festival schedule.

Our yearly audience favorite ฤ€RT HOUSE 17 returns to Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht with a special performance: Over the Rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ

In Baroque opera, gender roles were often blurred. Men sang womenโ€™s roles, women sang menโ€™s, and castrati sang everything in between. ฤ€RT HOUSE 17 continues in this spirit with a flamboyant performance where genres and conventions cheerfully clash and blend.

For Over the Rainbow, around 170 singers from the inclusive The Space Choir join dancers, clowns, and acrobats on stage. This extraordinaty concert is a celebration of freedom, diversity, and being yourself โœจ

Around 1566, Alessandro Striggio embarked on a daring musical experiment and created 'Missa sopra Ecco sรฌ beato giorno'. The work fell into obscutiry for four centuriese, until it was rediscovered in 2005. For the opening concert of our Festival, Hervรฉ Niquet and Le Concert Spirituel are brining this colossal vocal masterpiece back from obscurity, featuring both singers and instruments.

Step into the sparkling world of villancicos de remedo: music full of colour, rhythm, and stories from the Spanish-speaking world. These works play with imitation: singers step into the shoes of a wide variety of characters, thus giving voice to diverse cultural perspectives. For this special programma, Mรบsica Temprana welcomes performer, poet, and specialist in Latin American culture Nanne Timmer.
