Grauzone festival is a multidisciplinary underground festival with a diverse and cutting-edge programme where music, film and art complement each other. Grauzone features young talent as well as established names rooted in or influenced by the underground music scene from new wave, elektronic to psychedelic and experimental. The program consists of performances by (international) bands and DJ’s, a symposium with lectures and interviews, an (GRAUKUNST) exhibition and a film program.

We’re beyond excited to welcome Mothermary to Grauzone festival 2027 for the very first time.

After escaping a strict Mormon cult and reconnecting in New York, twin sisters Larena and Elyse Winn created Mothermary: a dark, seductive and hypnotic blend of synthpop, darkwave and cinematic electro-pop.

French coldwave cult icons Martin Dupont finally arrive at Grauzone 2027. From cult classics like Just Because and Sleep Is A Luxury to inspiring artists including Drab Majesty, Xeno & Oaklander and a new generation of darkwave acts - their influence reaches far beyond the French underground. New York-based duo Ghost Cop is one of the acts we just announced for Grauzone Festival 2027. Ghost Cop transform dark synth-pop and post-punk into what they fittingly describe as “feel-bad dance music” - punishing beats, haunted melodies and shadowy atmospheres built for moving through the night.

Drawing inspiration from 1970s and ’80s B-movie sci-fi and VHS horror aesthetics, their acclaimed second full-length album TROUBLE from 2024 further established the duo’s singular world; It channels dark electronic elements (reminiscent of bands like Boy Harsher) and explores themes of mental illness, neurodivergence, and emotional dissonance; dark, melancholic and irresistibly physical. We’re psyched to see Ghost Cop at Grauzone festival 2027.

We’re deeply saddened to hear that illustrator / artist Martijn F. Overweel passed away last week at the age of 54 who made the Grauzone cat, Ramses.

When we started Grauzone in 2013, we asked him to draw Ramses, the siamese cat of co-founder Natasja. He made several versions, and we instantly fell in love with the most mean and nasty one, which is still our logo today.

Martijn was not only an incredibly talented artist, but also a warm and kind person. We feel grateful to have worked with him. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. 🖤
