We offer a comfortable, light and health-conscious coworking space filled with a warm, intimate community, united in their passion for wellness and a work/life balance.
Our space is optimized for workplace wellness, incorporating biophilic design, healthy snacks and drinks, natural light and ergonomic furniture . We offer flexible work spaces, individual desks, private room hire for consultation/sessions/classes, and evening & weekend events.
At the heart of the business is our community. A membership with FloLab is not only access to facilities, but also to a supportive, open and inspiring community, where you can grow as a person at the same time as growing your business.
FloLab was founded by Emma Smillie and Snezhana Kuzmina in the summer of 2018. While we had been working independently on our businesses, we had both experienced loneliness and a lack of structure from working from home.
However, when researching local coworking spaces, we were not satisfied as they did not cater to our specific health needs. We have both experienced a variety of health issues ranging from anxiety, burnout, irritable bowel syndrome, scoliosis and autoimmune disorders.
We decided to create our own perfect work environment, and to share that space with a community that could help each other heal and grow together.
Over 6 months, we researched how to approach this new challenge in our lives, whilst also growing our community with weekly Meetups. Finally, in 2019, we were ready to open and share the seedlings of our vision.
Meet The Team
EMMA SMILLIE
I’m 36, from Edinburgh and moved to the Hague with my husband Drew just over a year ago. I absolutely love living in the Netherlands!
I’ve had so many jobs and identities over the years but I have always found there to be a clash between my health & wellness and my career. Wether it was sacrificing my energy and family time when I was a fine dining chef, or the 12 years I spent in corporate life as a consultant, feeling isolated and out of control. Traveling away from home during the week and eating out of restaurants led to becoming fat and frustrated at what my life entailed.
I know first hand how difficult it can be to break free from societal norms of working yourself till breaking point. My breaking point came last year when I triggered an auto immune disorder. What a wake up call that was! Healing from that has all been part of the beautiful process which has led me here today.
Now I am following my passion in life which is coaching. I help people with problem skin and confidence. I love what I do but there was just one thing missing in my work environment - people! Working from home can be a lonely existence at times. I work so much better when I am in a community of positive people. I believe we are all wired for community and am so excited to be creating a space and community which puts health and wellness above all else. When we are connected we can go far.
SNEZHANA KUZMINA
I’m 29, and I have lived in The Netherlands for 4 years. I am British by passport and accent but my blood is Russian (I moved to the UK when I was 8).
I’m mostly driven by anything that a.) let’s me be creative and b.) helps me manage my anxiety. I am a digital content strategist which is both really fun and arty, and really nerdy and structured. Also it means I can work wherever I want and avoid people if I feel like it.
Having anxiety means I also have IBS and intermittent insomnia, so my work life really needs to cater both to my dietary needs and rough slow days. I have currently been sober for 7 months and will do so indefinitely as I have never felt better.
The dirty socialist part of me feels strongly about the grassroots and community aspect of the coworking movement. I believe in helping each other grow by supporting everyone’s needs and ambitions! And The dirty capitalist in me wants to help you all make money!
