Na de twee mooie concerten op 9 mei jl. aan de Grote Markt gaan we 21 juni verder.
Gitarist Theo de Blasis, bekend van Ripa na Tulipa (vorig jaar bij Verueño in de Grote Kerk) laat na bijna 10 jaar Nederland achter zich en gaat 25 juni definitief terug naar Brazilië.
Dat bracht ons op het idee een afscheidsconcert te organiseren met vrienden en collega's. En nog mooier is dat Theo 21 juni ook nog eens jarig is!

Zeker zes muzikanten, maar hoogstwaarschijnlijk meer, zullen 21 juni spelen. Om 17.00 uur beginnen Theo de Blasis, Tarang Poddar en Thiago Gama een set met Braziliaanse muziek met crossovers naar India. Om 18.00 serveren we een Braziliaanse maaltijd en om 19.00 begint een heerlijk Samba optreden met in ieder geval Theo de Blasis, Rafael Gama, Thiago Gama, Rafael Durão en Carmen Martínez.

De toegang is gratis, maar een bijdrage wordt enorm gewaardeerd. Tijdens de avond zullen we hierom vragen. De bijdrage gaat naar de artiesten.
Inschrijven is verplicht. Inloop is vanaf 16.30 uur en er is de mogelijkheid, wanneer u zich ingeschreven heeft, om op elk tijdstip te komen of te gaan.

We maken Moqueca Baiana, een Braziliaanse stoofpot met vis. Wanneer u van deze Braziliaanse culinaire lekkernij wilt genieten, moet u dat bij de inschrijving erbij zetten en € 12,50 per persoon overmaken op

After the two beautiful concerts on May 9 at the Grote Markt, we continue on June 21. Guitarist Theo de Blasis, known from Ripa na Tulipa (last year at Verueño in the Grote Kerk), will leave the Netherlands after almost 10 years and will definitively go back to Brazil on June 25.
This gave us the idea to organize a farewell concert with friends and colleagues and after a few weeks of arranging, it has now succeeded. And even more beautiful is that Theo also has his birthday on June 21!

Certainly six musicians, but most likely more, will play on June 21. At 5:00 PM, Theo de Blasis, Tarang Poddar, and Thiago Gama will start a set with Brazilian music with crossovers to India. At 6:00 PM, we will serve a Brazilian meal and have drinks, and at 7:00 PM a wonderful Samba performance will begin with at least Theo de Blasis, Rafael Gama, Thiago Gama, Rafael Durão, and Carmen Martínez.

Admission is free, but a contribution is greatly appreciated. During the evening, we will ask for this. The contribution goes to the artists.
Registration is mandatory. Doors open at 16:30, and once registered, you can come and go at any time.

We are making Moqueca Baiana, a Brazilian fish stew. If you want to enjoy this Brazilian culinary delicacy, you must indicate this when registering and transfer €12.50 per person to NL67 INGB 0000 7106 97 to the account of Culturama, mentioning your name and Moqueca Baiana 21-6-2026.

WERELDS DINER, ZATERDAG 18 JULI
Het feestelijke 3 gangendiner met livemuziek vindt weer plaats in het Julianapark, Schiedam-West, zaterdag 18 juli.
Ieder jaar uitverkocht en iedere keer een gezellige, geslaagde avond!
Een heerlijk menu, begeleid door Braziliaanse klanken, zal geserveerd worden.

Wat een fantastische muzikanten hebben we zaterdagavond op het podium staan:
Chieko Donker Duyvis is een celliste, zangeres en componiste en heeft
Braziliaanse/Japanse/Nederlandse roots. Haar unieke manier van improviseren met haar
stem en cello leidde tot tournees door Europa, Azië, Mexico, artistieke residenties in Brazilië,
optredens op het EuroJazz festival en op grote podia in Nederland zoals het Concertgebouw en Bimhuis.
Als multidisciplinair kunstenaar in hart en nieren ontwikkelde ze zich verder in het
theatervak, het creëren van partituren voor internationale documentaires, het samenwerken met beeldende kunstenaars. Ze speelde speciale projecten met leden van het
Concertgebouworkest en was Artist in Focus voor de Cello Biennale 2024, waar ze werd
uitgenodigd als soliste met het Dutch Wind Ensemble, en daar haar nieuwe composities voor cello, stem en blaasorkest introduceerde tijdens een tour door Nederland.
Angelo Ursini is bij de trouwe Verueño bezoeker inmiddels wellicht bekend; deze muzikale duizendpoot componeert voor diverse ensembles zoals het AKOM Ensemble en het
Marinierskapel Blaasorkest en speelt in diverse ensembles op wel 10 instrumenten zoals fluit,
klarinet, saxofoon, maar ook diverse etnische fluiten. Heel bijzonder allemaal.
Juliano Abramovay is een veelzijdige muzikant, componist en onderzoeker met een passie
voor het verkennen van diverse muziektradities. Juliano's muziekprojecten combineren de
melodische rijkdom van traditionele muziek uit het oostelijke Middellandse Zeegebied met
zijn Braziliaanse muzikale achtergrond. Hij toert met het Netherlands Blazers Ensemble
(NBE), maakte de soundtrack voor de circus-theaterproductie Sawdust Symphony (Korzo Theater, Den Haag), geeft les aan Codarts en is betrokken bij het Rotterdam Arts and Science Lab (RASL).

Saturday, May 9, it’s happening: the start of our Verueño season 2026!An hour and a half of the Chieko Donker Duyvis Trio, and that for free!What fantastic musicians we have on stage on Saturday night:
Chieko Donker Duyvis is a cellist, singer, and composer and has Brazilian/Japanese/Dutch
roots. Her unique way of improvising with her voice and cello has led to tours through Europe, Asia, Mexico, artistic residencies in Brazil, performances at the EuroJazz festival, and on major
stages in the Netherlands such as the Concertgebouw and Bimhuis.
As a multidisciplinary artist at heart, she further developed herself in theater, creating scores
for international documentaries, and collaborating with visual artists. She performed special
projects with members of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and was Artist in Focus for the Cello
Biennale 2024, where she was invited as a soloist with the Dutch Wind Ensemble, and there
introduced her new compositions for cello, voice, and wind orchestra during a tour through
the Netherlands.
Angelo Ursini may by now be known to the loyal Verueño visitor; this musical polymath
composes for various ensembles such as the AKOM Ensemble and the Marines Brass Band and
plays in various ensembles on as many as 10 instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone,
but also various ethnic flutes. Very special indeed.
Juliano Abramovay is a versatile musician, composer, and researcher with a passion for
exploring diverse musical traditions. Juliano's music projects combine the melodic richness of
traditional music from the eastern Mediterranean with his Brazilian musical background. He
tours with the Netherlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE), created the soundtrack for the circustheater production Sawdust Symphony (Korzo Theater, The Hague), teaches at Codarts, and is
involved with the Rotterdam Arts and Science Lab (RASL).

Zaterdag 9 mei is het zover: de start van ons Verueño seizoen 2026!
We zijn blij met de muzikanten die komen en delen dat enthousiasme graag nog een
beetje extra:
Meshana Skara bestaat uit twee enthousiaste en gedreven muzikanten die samen in Ljuta
Trpka spelen, een 6-koppige band die nog niet zo lang bestaat maar goed aan de weg timmert
met hun aanstekelijke Balkan sound vol authentieke melodieën.
Daarnaast spelen zowel Stanimir als Annabella in diverse andere ensembles; Annabella reist
muzikaal echt de wereld over en speelt zowel in een Rebetiko ensemble, een Braziliaanse
band, ze maakt Galicische muziek en speelt dus in Ljuta Trpka.
Maar zaterdag 9 mei spelen ze speciaal voor Verueño als duo Meshana Skara en wie weet gaat dit duo wel verder. Kom naar ze luisteren, het wordt genieten.

enthusiasm a little extra:
Meshana Skara consists of two enthusiastic and driven musicians who play
together in Ljuta Trpka, a six-member band that hasn't been around for long but
is making a name for itself with their infectious Balkan sound full of authentic
melodies.
In addition, both Stanimir and Annabella play in various other ensembles;
Annabella truly travels the world musically and plays in a Rebetiko ensemble, a
Brazilian band, she performs Galician music, and therefore plays in Ljuta Trpka.
But on Saturday, May 9, they will perform especially for Verueño as the duo
Meshana Skara, and who knows, this duo may continue further. Come listen to

Chieko Donker Duyvis is celliste, zangeres en componiste uit Amsterdam met Braziliaans-Japanse roots. Juliano Abramovay (gitaar, ud) en Angelo Ursini (fluit, klarinet) zijn bevlogen musici uit Brazilië.
Samen creëren ze een wervelende, multi-instrumentale sound die beweegt tussen avontuurlijke improvisaties en eigen composities, geïnspireerd door Braziliaanse en Japanse tradities: dansende ritmes en verstilde, impressionistische sferen. Met een rijk palet aan klanken, van cello en stem tot ud, gitaar en Braziliaanse volksinstrumenten zoals rabeca en volksfluit, ontstaat een speelse dialoog vol levensvreugde.

Chieko Donker Duyvis is a cellist, singer, and composer from Amsterdam with Brazilian-Japanese roots. Juliano Abramovay (guitar, oud) and Angelo Ursini (flute, clarinet) are passionate musicians from Brazil. Together they create a whirling, multi-instrumental sound that moves between adventurous improvisations and original compositions, inspired by Brazilian and Japanese traditions: dancing rhythms and calm, impressionistic atmospheres. With a rich palette of sounds, from cello and voice to oud, guitar, and Brazilian folk instruments such as rabeca and folk flute, a playful dialogue full of joy of life emerges.
