As for a couple of weeks our artistic director Michiel de Boer is hosting an online meeting for composers and orchestrators from film and media. We discuss certain pieces written by the participants and talk about the things that we face in the business.
Tomorrow we will take a look at two scores both for wind/concertband. One by Rolf Gustavson and one by Touko Niemi. Both are great young composers from Finland. We will look at the way they constructed the piece and also take a closer look at the way of writing for wind/concertband. A type of orchestra filmcomposers don't write for, but most likely will be playing the filmscores in their concertprogramming.
How to deal with the clarinets, saxophones and brass? How to orchestrate from strings into winds? What are the do's and dont's?
All this and more will be discussed tomorrow at 8pm CEST.

After a Golden Globe and a BAFTA award its 3 in a row for Hildur Gudnadottir for best original score. The FIRST woman to win in 23 years! Congratz!

Oscar nominee Hildur Guðnadóttir will has her score preformed live on a tour which includes Europe. Dates are to be announced yet.

De prijswinnende muziek uit Joker is vanaf eind april live bij de film te horen, in een internationale concertreeks. De première is op 30 april in Londen, meldt Deadline dinsdag.

Yesterday we attended the masterclass of the great Howard Shore. Composer of Silent of the Lambs, Gangs of New York, Hugo and Lord of the Rings. Greatfull to hear him share his knowledge and insights with us.

Vandaag bereikte ons het trieste bericht dat oprichter en motor achter Cinetalk.net Sandro Forte, op een leeftijd van 49 jaar, plots aan een natuurlijke oorzaak is overleden. Wij zullen hem herinneren als een goede vriend die met veel passie voor film en filmmuziek en gedrevenheid dit wilde delen met anderen. Onze condoleances gaan uit naar zijn familie en naasten.

Today we recieved the sad news that founder of Cinetalk.net, Sandro Forte passed away at the age of 49. We will remember him as a good friend, who wanted to share his passion for film and filmmusic. Our condolances to his family and close friends.
