✨ From May 22 to 24, Haarlem hosted PROMIN’ — a festival of contemporary Ukrainian culture that brought together cinema, video art, exhibitions, performances, and public talks.

For us, the festival became a space of encounter, shared presence, and cultural dialogue between Ukraine and the Netherlands. Over the course of three days, we watched contemporary Ukrainian films together and spoke about memory, corporeality, loss, intimacy, freedom, and the future — through the language of contemporary art.

The presence of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Netherlands, Andrii Kostin, and the Mayor of Haarlem, Jos Wienen, at the festival opening was especially meaningful to us. Their support is incredibly valuable for the development of Ukrainian culture within an international context.

We sincerely thank all the artists, filmmakers, partners, volunteers, festival guests, and everyone who became part of PROMIN’. Thank you for your openness, trust, and for helping us create this shared space of light and presence.

✨ З 22 до 24 травня в Гарлемі відбувся PROMIN’ – фестиваль сучасної української культури, що об’єднав кіно, відеоарт, виставку, перформанси та публічні розмови.

Для нас цей фестиваль став простором зустрічі, співприсутності та культурного діалогу між Україною та Нідерландами. Протягом трьох днів ми разом дивилися сучасне українське кіно, говорили про памʼять, тілесність, втрату, близькість, свободу та майбутнє – мовою сучасного мистецтва.

Особливо важливою для нас стала присутність на відкритті повноважного посла України в Нідерландах Андрія Костіна та мера Гарлема Йоса Вінена. Їхня підтримка є надзвичайно цінною для розвитку української культури у міжнародному контексті.

✨ As part of the PROMIN’ Festival of Contemporary Ukrainian Culture in Haarlem, held from May 22 to 24, the exhibition “Not My Room” by Ukrainian artist Vlada Ralko took place, curated by Maryna Hutz.

The exhibition became a sensitive yet intense exploration of the experience of losing one’s home and the fragility of personal space. At the centre of the project is the condition of forced displacement, where familiar boundaries of privacy collapse and the body becomes the only remaining point of stability. Ralko’s works speak about vulnerability and anxiety, feelings of alienation, and the gradual search for a new place — both physical and internal.

It was especially meaningful for us to welcome the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Netherlands, Andriy Kostin, and the Mayor of Haarlem, Jos Wienen, to the festival opening. Their attention and support highlight the importance of Ukrainian culture within the international context today ⚡️

✨ У межах фестивалю сучасної української культури PROMIN’ у Гарлемі, із 22 до 24 травня, відбулася виставка «Не моя кімната» української художниці Влада Ралко, кураторкою якої стала Марина Гуц.

Експозиція стала чутливим і водночас напруженим дослідженням досвіду втрати дому та крихкості особистого простору. У центрі проєкту – стан вимушеного переміщення, коли звичні межі приватності руйнуються, а тіло стає єдиною точкою опори. Роботи Ралко говорять про вразливість і тривогу, відчуття чужості та поступовий пошук нового місця – як фізичного, так і внутрішнього.

Особливо важливою для нас стала присутність на відкритті фестивалю повноважного посла України в Нідерландах Андрія Костіна та мера Гарлема Йоса Вінена. Їхня увага та підтримка підкреслюють значення української культури в міжнародному контексті сьогодні ⚡️

✨ On May 24, as part of the PROMIN’ Festival of Contemporary Ukrainian Culture in Haarlem, Anna Buryachkova’s performance Give Me Your Pain (I Will Give You Light) took place

For six hours, the performance space became a place of silence, empathy, and inner transformation. Through voice, text, imagination, and meditative practice, participants went through a personal emotional journey, exploring pain, memory, and lived experience.

Anna Buryachkova’s work created a temporary space of closeness and support, where the personal became collective, and vulnerability became a way of searching for light and mutual connection in a time of war and uncertainty.

✨ 24 травня, у межах фестивалю сучасної української культури PROMIN’ у Гарлемі відбувся перформанс Анни Бурячкової «Віддай мені свій біль (Я дам тобі світло)»

Протягом шести годин простір перформансу ставав місцем тиші, співпереживання та внутрішніх трансформацій. Через голос, текст, уяву та медитативну практику учасники й учасниці проходили особисту емоційну подорож, досліджуючи власний біль, пам’ять і досвід.

Робота Анни Бурячкової створила тимчасовий простір близькості та підтримки, де особисте ставало колективним, а вразливість – способом пошуку світла й взаємності у час війни та невизначеності.

Дякуємо всім, хто став частиною цього важливого досвіду PROMIN’ ✨

✨ The performance Walking Out the Wound by Ukrainian artist Mariia Proshkovska took place as part of the PROMIN’ Festival of Contemporary Ukrainian Culture in Haarlem

For one hour, participants walked a route through the city together with the artist, transforming movement into a way of experiencing memory, personal histories, and inner transformation.

In the project Walking Out the Wound, each step becomes a gesture of reflection, while urban space turns into a place of dialogue between the body, trauma, and collective experience. The routes walked together create new maps of memory, where the personal becomes visible and shared.

У проєкті «Walking Out the Wound» крок стає жестом осмислення, а міський простір — місцем діалогу між тілом, травмою та спільним досвідом. Маршрути, пройдені разом, формують нові карти пам’яті, де особисте стає видимим і колективним.

✨ Join the interactive performance “Give Me Your Pain (I Will Give You Light)” by Ukrainian film director and artist Anna Buryachkova as part of the PROMIN’ Festival of Contemporary Ukrainian Culture in Haarlem.

The performance is based on Anna Buryachkova’s original method of actor’s meditation, developed through her work as a film director and screenwriter. Inside the enclosed space, participants will take part in a meditative emotional journey where voice, text, and imagination become tools for confronting personal pain and searching for inner light. Visitors will be able to witness these intimate transformations or become participants in the performance themselves.

In a time marked by war, displacement, and collective trauma, the work creates a space for empathy, memory, and support — a place where personal experience transforms into a collective act of hope and connection.

Перформанс базується на авторському методі акторської медитації, який Анна Бурячкова розробила у своїй роботі як кінорежисерка та сценаристка. У замкненому просторі учасники пройдуть через медитативну емоційну подорож, де голос, текст і уява стають інструментами зустрічі з власним болем та пошуку внутрішнього світла. Глядачі зможуть спостерігати за цими інтимними трансформаціями або самі стати частиною перформансу.

У час війни, переміщення та колективної травми ця робота створює простір для співпереживання, пам’яті та підтримки — місце, де особистий досвід перетворюється на колективний акт надії та взаємності.
