Weโre left with โmixed feelingsโ.
On the one hand, it was an amazing day. Great temperatures, incredible energy and a crowd that brought nothing but love from start to finish. In the lead-up to the event, we carefully prepared for a range of possible scenarios. We installed a hydration system above the crowd, added extra water points, set up an extensive first aid post and maintained close contact with all relevant authorities and partners throughout the day.
Then came the one scenario we had very little control over: thunderstorms.
At ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ง๐ฅ๐ฌ safety always comes first. We never considered moving the festival indoors. The venue capacity, stage positioning and the technical setup for light and sound were simply not designed for that scenario. It was therefore not a realistic or safe option.
With pain in our hearts, we had to stop Zonderling after just 15 minutes, a performance we had been looking forward to for a very long time. We know many of you were too.
That set is still owed to you. How? Weโre going to figure that out. Weโre heading back to the drawing board and will come back with a plan.
Still have drink tokens left? Hold on to them for a future edition.
Most importantly, we want to thank all of you. Thank you for a day filled with love, music, positivity and understanding. Your patience and support meant the world to us.
A special shout-out to Stadslab and the security teams for acting quickly and professionally and for helping keep everyone comfortable with water and ice creams when they were needed most.
Thankfully, we made it through what has become a much-talked-about edition without any injuries or major incidents. If losing 50 minutes of an entire festival day was the biggest obstacle we faced, then we think we can all be proud and grateful for how the day unfolded.
Thank you.
