In this short workshop, we will explore the art of kimjang- the process of making kimchi together. We will prepare this Korean staple from scratch with the guidance of Kamila (Kimchimeid). Afterwards, we will taste our creation with a small meal, followed by a sweet treat.

Our hosts, Jaeyoung and Saeneul, will share a bit about their projects on kimjang and Korean pastries. Come learn, chat, eat, drink, and take home your own jar of kimchi!

We’re excited to share an idea that brings people together in the most universal way: through food.

Together, Stella and Roos are developing a social art project that connects people through cooking, culture, and conversation. Inspired by both Icelandic and Dutch traditions, they are hosting a dinner performance on Saturday that blends storytelling with a shared meal.

Why a potato dinner? Because the potato is something both Iceland and the Netherlands have in common! Simple, grounding, and deeply rooted in everyday life. It’s a symbol of resilience, history, and home. By building our dinner around it, we create a familiar starting point for connection.

During the evening, guests won’t just eat - they’ll participate and exchange stories with your buur (neighbor), your relationship with food growing up, daily rituals, and the urgencies shaping our lives today. It’s about sparking conversations that might not happen otherwise!

In a time where division often feels louder than connection, we believe sharing food can bring people closer again and together aim to create a warm, engaging, and meaningful experience.

Get ready for a weekend of collaborative events made possible through the open call of keukenconnecties and the wonderful energy of our hosts and team!

🥬 On Friday 20/03 we will have a kimchi workshop hosted by where you’ll learn how to prepare this Korean staple. We will taste our creation while .lee.design tells us all about her project on Kimjang (making kimchi together) and afterwards try out a sweet Korean rice cake made by as part of an ongoing project exploring how Korea adopted Western pastry and developed its own identity.

🥔 On Saturday 21/03 we will be joined by Rotterdam based artist duo .studio_ and for a night based on connecting around the table through our stories about food, community and culture. Our star ingredient of the evening is the potato, uniting the artist’s Icelandic and Dutch culture.

Experimental live drawing recap 🌀
We made our own art tools, painted a professional model, had some mezcal and listened to disco for our first Keukenconnecties activity organized in-house.

Linda ( ) was kind enough to lend us her funky seat for the model to pose on.

Eind augustus mochten we in een van de hallen op de begane grond van het de inrichting en catering verzorgen van het Slimmer Kopen congres van . 250 gasten kregen de hele middag een prima lunch/taartjes en drankjes.
