A birthday gift that comes in handy! ☔🎁
At Vitro Plus, birthdays always come with a little present.
This year, our colleagues receive a stylish umbrella with the Vitro Plus logo. 🌿
Our colleague Adriana already discovered just how useful her birthday gift could be! During her holiday a few weeks ago in beautiful Traben-Trarbach, Germany, the weather wasn’t exactly on her side… 🌧️ Luckily, she came prepared! ☔😄 A little bit of Vitro Plus, even on a rainy holiday!

Update from our greenhouse
🌿 Did you know we sometimes vacuum our plants? 😄
Yes, you read that right! Our greenhouse team occasionally uses a special vacuum cleaner to remove weaker plants from our trays. 🌱 When these little plants are growing close together (which is usually the case!), vacuuming them out is much quicker and easier than removing them by hand. Who knew a vacuum cleaner could be such a handy tool in a greenhouse? 🧹🌿
Just a little behind-the-scenes fun fact from Vitro Plus!
But of course, plenty of sorting is still done by hand, just like with these beautiful Platycerium ferns on the table! 🌿💚

It's Fern Friday today and we want to put the spotligth on one of the (10!) brand new additions to our assortment of 2027!
Let us introduce to you: African Spleenwort Fern (Asplenium aetiopicum)
A graceful fern native to Africa and surrounding islands, producing finely divided, delicate fronds. It thrives in light shade with well-drained, humus-rich soil and appreciates a sheltered position. An elegant choice for conservatories, containers, or protected gardens. Native to tropical Africa.

*This fern is produced from spores, on plugs only.

For more information you can also have a look at our website here:

We’re always happy to receive good news from our customers… but it’s even better when it comes with beautiful pictures of “our” ferns! 🌿📸
After all, they do feel a little bit like our babies. We watch them grow, send them out into the big wide world… and then we love getting updates on how they’re doing! 😉💚
Thank you, Lucksbridge Horticulture ltd., for sharing these lovely photos with us. They’re looking great! ✨🌿

🌿 Once a fern lover, always a fern lover! 🌿
Our colleague Miranda spent some time in beautiful Tenerife. And of course, even on holiday, you can’t just walk past a gorgeous fern without stopping to take a picture! 📸😄
Tenerife’s lush surroundings offered plenty of opportunities for some serious fern spotting — and luckily for us, these beautiful specimens made it into the holiday photo collection.
It seems you can take someone from Vitro Plus on holiday… but you can’t take the ferns out of them! 💚🌿

🌿 One of the perks of working at a fern laboratory! 🌿
Every once in a while, it’s time for a big clean-up in our greenhouse. Our mother plants are replaced and any surplus ferns need to find a new home. And that’s where our Vitro Plus colleagues come in! 😉 Everyone gets the chance to take home one (or several…) of these beautiful ferns. As you can imagine, they don’t have to be asked twice! 😄🌿 The plants are snapped up in no time. Just one of the little perks of working at a fern laboratory… free ferns!💚

One of our colleagues recently travelled through Norway and, as you can imagine, spotted ferns, ferns and even more ferns! 😍
Among them were these beautiful Matteuccia ferns, which have recently joined our assortment. (first picture) At the moment, they are available exclusively to our European customers, supplied from our greenhouse. Unfortunately, we’re not yet able to ship them internationally as Vitro-Plugs — but we’re working hard on the protocol and hope to make this possible in the near future!

Until then, we’ll just keep admiring them in the wild… 🌿💚

A little fern magic! 🌿✨
In the Cedar House Ferns garden, we also have a beautiful Silver Oak Fern (Aleuritopteris argentea). 🌿 Did you know you can make a real fern tattoo with one of its fronds? The print is created by the silvery-white coating on the underside of the frond. Just press it onto your skin and… voilà: a natural fern tattoo! 🌿Pretty cool, right? 😊

Een vleugje varenmagie! 🌿✨

The Zeeuwse Oase in Kats is hard to describe in just one word – and that is exactly what makes this place so special. They are a nursery (with their own shop), have a restaurant, a lovely terrace, meeting rooms, an atmospheric greenhouse for private high teas, dinners and parties, a nature playground, and you can even stay overnight.
But above all, you come there to enjoy nature. More than four hectares filled with trees, plants and flowers, countless species of birds, perfectly trimmed hedges and wonderfully wild, winding paths.
And you can also discover some absolutely beautiful ferns there... which, of course, makes us very happy! 🌿😊
