Diversity doesn't stop after one day. 🌍 Different roots, one team. Today, Rupali and Eric share their stories. Swipe through 👉

"Hi everyone, my name is Rupali and I'm from India, Pune. I grew up switching between Marathi, Hindi and English in a single conversation, it still feels completely normal to me. Heritage, for me, lives in the small things: the rhythm of Ganesh Chaturthi, when the whole neighbourhood comes together for ten days, and Diwali, when the house is cleaned top to bottom, lamps go up, and sweets are made in quantities no family can reasonably eat. Hospitality isn't a service, it's simply how you treat people, and I carry that into a company built around bringing people together. Directness was something I had to learn; I grew up communicating more indirectly. Once, decisions were made without me, but the consequences still landed on my desk, I chose to respond with clarity instead of grievance, stating plainly what was mine and what wasn't. What I value here is that colleagues ask about my festivals and food out of real interest, not formality. My advice to anyone who feels like the odd one out: be honest, ask the questions you're afraid are obvious. People respond to that far better than you think."

"Hi everyone, I'm Eric, a proud Brabander: social, down-to-earth, direct, a little Burgundian. Having worked in the north of the Netherlands for years, I still sometimes feel like the odd one out, proof that diversity can exist closer to home than we think. I also live with type 1 diabetes. It's invisible, but it's with me every day: my insulin pen, checking blood sugar, thinking ahead before meals. A small routine, but it sets me apart. I've seen people respond to that differently. At one job, my diabetes became a big topic in the interview. At another, my manager had diabetes too, and we instantly connected. It taught me how much understanding and empathy matter. Diversity is about more than what you see, backgrounds, experiences, perspectives. Those differences shape how we think and solve problems. At Meetingselect, I value that differences are embraced, not avoided. To anyone who's felt different: it's not a weakness, it's what you bring. Be yourself."

"Hi everyone, I'm Mehdi. Born and raised in Tunisia, in a culture that's collectivist, warm, and centred on family and community, a foundation that still shapes how I connect with people today. At sixteen, I moved to Dubai, spending four formative years surrounded by an international community. That experience made me a global citizen: open-minded, adaptable, unafraid of new horizons. Eight years ago, I settled in the Netherlands.
Even now, I don't feel fully "home" anywhere. In Tunisia, Dubai, or the Netherlands, I've always felt a bit like an outsider. I speak Arabic, French, and English fluently, plus some Dutch, but after so long abroad, settling permanently feels hard to imagine.
Have I felt different because of it? Yes. But treating people the way you want to be treated makes adapting easier. At Meetingselect, I see real diversity and genuine curiosity about other cultures. To anyone who feels like the "odd one out": that feeling is real, but your perspective is a strength, not something to hide."

"Hi everyone, my name is Yvonne and I'm from Malaysia, a small country, but packed with so many cultures, languages, traditions, and amazing food. It taught me to adapt easily and appreciate where people come from. Being Malaysian, proud of our 69 years of independence, is a big part of who I am.
My parents shaped me as well, they taught me to stay curious and always be on time (I've mastered that one well!). I used to love having everything under control, until I stepped into something totally unfamiliar. It was a tough, humbling learning curve, but it taught me to be more at peace with myself and not always chase perfect.
At Meetingselect, I feel genuinely respected, even when we see things differently. So, if you ever feel like the odd one out, reach out and talk about more with your colleagues than just work to learn more from each other! And if you ever visit Kuala Lumpur, I'll welcome you myself!"
