We live in a world where cultures meet every day.

At home,
at work,
around the table.
(This photo was taken at one of our multicultural dinner parties.)

But understanding each other… is not automatic.

Cultural intelligence is the ability to relate, understand and adapt across cultures.
Not by losing yourself, but by expanding your awareness.

It’s the capacity to say:
“This is different from me… and still valid.”

Without it, differences can feel like threats.
With it, they become invitations.

It’s not about knowing everything about every culture.
It’s about curiosity, respect, and presence.

And maybe, especially in times like this…
this kind of intelligence matters more than ever.

This is the space we try to create at Amsterdam International Women,
where differences are not only accepted, but welcomed.

This “Old Land” may be a mental, emotional, or spiritual space we have long inhabited, shaped by limitations, unconscious patterns, and survival modes.

We are not rushing out of it, but walking away with intention and presence.

Each step becomes a conscious choice to no longer be defined by what has held us back.

We are invited to observe our current reality, not with judgment, but with curiosity and self-responsibility.

Hi ladies, I’m Paula Kelder, founder of Amsterdam International Women.
And this is me last month in my hometown, Salvador, Bahia. :)✨

🌷This year, I want to reconnect with the original purpose behind founding Amsterdam International Women: to support international women, expats, and immigrants, who have gone through the journey of leaving their hometown, their culture, their family, their safe space, to begin again in a new land.

I know what you’re going through.
I know how difficult it is to settle and start over.
I know how challenging it can be to adapt culturally, to make new friends, and especially to find true community.
And that is what we want to offer you at Amsterdam International Women: a genuine, warm community where you can find your space, find your tribe, and build meaningful connections.

This year, we are especially intentional about keeping our focus on genuine connection.
We are being more mindful in preventing spam in our WhatsApp clubs, and we do not allow professional networking or client prospecting at our events.
We are not a professional network.
We are a community.
And we want to keep the AIW spirit alive.

I am deeply grateful for these past nine years of learning, growth, and exploring different directions. And we are happy to begin this new year with clarity and intention, excited about all the possibilities of connecting with you at our events and in our WhatsApp groups.
