The Akwa Ibom State Government has again reiterated her commitment towards supporting and encouraging good tourism and hospitality initiatives in the state as a front burner to boost tourism attraction in Akwa Ibom State.

The Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Orman Esin made this divulge on Wednesday during the official Logo unveiling of Akwa Ibom Food Festival 2021 held at the conference room of Akwa Ibom Hotels Management and Tourism Board in Uyo.

Akwa Ibom Food Festival 2021 organized by De-Noahua Tourism Enterprise is one of the most Nigerian famous tourism outfit with professionals and experts in organizing tourism events and showcasing tourism brands with high level of professionalism with the capacity to change the narrative of tourism in Nigeria.

Rt. Hon. Orman Esin disclosed that the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel has given birth to tourism development in the country which Akwa Ibom as a state is currently rated as a tourist destination in the entire world having attracted more than 85% of tourists from different countries with an humongous tourist centers spreading in the state.

The Culture and Tourism Boss hinted that with the conceptualization of this event which is billed up for October this year will boost the cultural heritage of the state and thereby showcase to the world the delicious and sumptuous meals prepared cm consumed in the state.

Mr. Esin maintained that the event will produce and enhance another level of tourism attraction to the State for investment to thrive while urging all and sundry to tell the good stories of Akwa Ibom State to the country, Africa and to the world at large noting that we can use our hands cm mouth to either build or mar the progress and development of the state.

He however charged the organizers to put all hands on deck with all amount of professionalism employing credible personalities from all walks of life to enhance a successful hosting of the event.

In his remarks, Mr. Ukpong Umoh the CEO of De-Noahua Tourism Enterprise and the convener of Akwa Ibom Food Festival 2021 extends appreciation to His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State and wife, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and all the relevant ministries, parastatals, and partners for their unwavering support to help further the development and promotion of the native signature cuisines.

Mr. Umoh acknowledged that in spite of the seeming challenges in the country most particularly the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the organization's approach is to create an enabling socio-economic environment required for domestic tourism to thrive sustainably and collaborating with stakeholders to make the vision achievable.

"Akwa Ibom Food Festival is already being applauded by many in diverse sectors of the economy even at its planning stage, the brand has the potentials impacting positively, all facets of tourism as well as the agro-allied industries in the host State and country at large. It also promises to be a competitive
package in showcasing the cuisines and cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom state". He said.

He opined that most people especially in the South-South region of Nigeria have abandoned their farm lands in search of blue-collar jobs in the City, culminating into the intense dwindling of cash crops production and the extinction of most indigenous due to cross-cultural effects and western civilization which the cost of foodstuff has equally increased within the region while noting that AKIFF seeks to engender the promotion of the farming culture and a return to those indigenous foods capable of cutting down on the high cost of living experienced in Akwa Ibom State.

He however noted that the event will feature a one day symposium on the theme "Optimizing Akwa Ibom Cuisines, Tourism and Economy" which participation would cut across all Local Government Councils as competitive participants involved in the programme of event will also include major foods, beverages and allied products manufacturing/processing companies government driven tourism sectors, airlines, hotels and resort centers and in Nigeria, private and other organizations/agencies from diverse sectors of the economy.

The event witnessed Rt. Hon. Orman Esin, Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Ini Akpabio, Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Hotels Management Board, Comr. Ini Ememobong, Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Strategy represented by Akparawa James Edet, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs representing the Commissioner and other notable sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State.

For the records, De-Noahua Tourism has remained the signpost Cultural and Tourist event, ushering festivities and wrapping up the season.
