Governor's Cup:Ondo FA conducts draws for teams

Ondo State Football Association on Monday conducted draws for the 15 registered local governments areas of the state ahead of the scheduled Governor's Cup in the state.

The draws took place at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure with the representatives of the participating teams in attendance.

In a chat with news, Chairman of the state FA, Otunba Dele Ajayi, urged the participating teams to abide by the rules of the game.

Ajayi, represented by a Board Member, Mr Samuel Patani, said there were fines for any form of misconduct by any participating team who may want to bring the competition into disrepute.

He also assured that all teams will have level playing grounds as organisers did not have preference for any team and that the competition will be on knock out basis.

Ajayi announced that the competition has three venues as follows; Ondo town for Central district, Okitipupa for Southern District and Owo for Northern senatorial district.

He urged all teams to sensitise their players to be of good behavior before, during and after the tournament.

Ondo FA congratulates Otunba Dele-Ajayi, Hon Elegbeleye

The board members of Ondo State Football Association and various Football Council chairmen express their delight over the emergence of Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi as Executive Board member of Nigeria Football Federation and the appointment of former National Sports Commission boss Gbenga Elegbeleye as Chairman of Interim Management Committee (IMC) to manage the affairs of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

We are particularly delighted that our leader and number one football administrator in Ondo State, in his quest to improve the way football is being run in the country successfully emerged as one of the two board members from the region.

Ondo State Football Association members and the entire state attest to the qualities of Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi and Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye assuring that they will deliver on the tasks given to them at any point in time.

We pray that God will grant both men the strength and the needed wisdom to achieve greatness and desirable result to improve the games of football in the country.

Ondo FA approves commencement of 2022 Governor's Cup

The organizing committee of the Ondo State Football Association has approved the commencement of the 2022 Governor's Cup Football Competition.

This was approved at its meeting held on Tuesday 13th Sep.,2022 resolved that the commencement of registration of the above competition immediately, with the following terms and conditions:

(1)That the Registration be commenced immediately and end on Friday 14th October,2022, with registration fee of #20,000.
(2)That the competition is limited to 18 clubs, with the Local Government Council Chairmen producing or presenting a team each.

(3)That the competition is open to all players and only current premier league players are not eligible to play.

(4) That the competition will be Played across the 18 local government on knock out basis at a selected centers.

(5)That fabulous gifts shall be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

(6)That all local football councils chairmen be involved in the organization of the competition in their respective local government areas.

(7)That date and Time of the fixtures will be announced at later date.

*SUNSHINE STARS' GRASSROOT TALENTS SCREENING*

Interested football players within the nooks and crannies of Ondo State are enjoined to come for an open screening exercise organised by Sunshine Stars.

The exercise begins on Monday, 29 August through Satuday 03 September 2022, 8am daily at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.

Sunshine Stars under the supervision of Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Bamidele Ologun is keen to give exceptional footballing talents in the state the platform to excel.

Consequently, chairmen of Local Football Councils should as a matter of urgency inform players in their Local Government to attend this important programme that could present a rare opportunity to stardom.

*NOTE:* participation is free but players are to cover the cost of their transportation, accomodation and feeding, however, selected players stand a chance to be drafted into Sunshine Stars Team A or B in time for the 2022/23 season.
