MOVING FROM CAPACITY TO CAPABILITY
"Capacity" is made up of two parts: CAP and ACUITY. While cap signifies leadership, acity refers to quality or tendency. So, by design, every one of us has the innate tendency to lead. Leadership is not exclusive, it's embedded in our make-up as God's creation.
But like the parable of the talents, many believers are like the man with one talent. We've been GIVEN we've been GRACED, we've been GIFTED but we hold back. We know so much about God. We even speak so much about Him, yet, we hide what He’s planted within us. We fail to UNLEASH.
Laziness, in God's eyes, is not doing NOTHING
It’s doing what you weren’t asked to do. That’s why “hustling,” as popularly known, isn’t exactly a badge of honour. Hustling is doing multiple things without a clear purpose or direction. That’s not diligence, that’s deviation.
We’ve been called to "trade with our capacity", not just in the church, but in the world. Inside the church, we serve. Outside the church, we represent. Our lives, beyond the walls, are our loudest sermons.
As children of God, EVERYTHING we do should preach Christ. There’s no such thing as "gospel" music, or "gospel" dance. WE are the gospel. So whatever we do: music, art, business, tech — should reflect His truth.
Here’s the critical connection:
- The missing link between CAPACITY and CAPABILITY is CREATIVITY.
- The missing link between CAPABILITY and ACHIEVEMENT is INNOVATION.
These gaps form what’s called the CAPABILITY GAP. And to bridge that gap, we need two key things:
Two Keys That Bridge the Capacity Gap:
1. CAPACITY AWARENESS: Knowing what you carry.
2. CAPACITY APPRECIATION:Valuing what you carry enough to use it.
When capacity is applied, it becomes CAPABILITY. When it’s paired with creativity, it evolves into purpose-driven impact.
Finally, beware of three ungodly spirits that keep us bound:
1. The Spirit of Hustling— aimless striving without divine direction.
2. The Spirit of Struggling — constant toil in your own strength.
3. The Spirit of Limitation — settling within boundaries God never set.
You were not made to move without purpose. You were made to shine.
