MOAUM BURSARY DEPARTMENT CONCLUDES FIVE-DAY IN-HOUSE TRAINING WORKSHOP.

Staff of the Bursary Department of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, have successfully concluded a five-day In-House Training Workshop themed, "Promoting Sustainable Operational Effectiveness of the Bursary Department in a University System."

The Workshop, held from 18th to 22nd May, 2026, at the Faculty of Social Sciences Hall, was organized by the University Management in collaboration with the Bursary Department to enhance efficiency, transparency and accountability in the University's financial operations.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Director of Budget and Expenditure, Mr. John Eliagwu Audu, urged participants to take full advantage of the training to broaden their knowledge and improve their professional competencies. He noted that continuous capacity building remains critical to effective service delivery and the achievement of institutional goals within the university system.

Speaking during the workshop, the Bursar, Dr. Amos Egwurube Otse, expressed appreciation to the University Management for its support in facilitating the successful organization of the programme. He emphasized that an efficient and sustainable bursary system is the backbone of any university, as it ensures the prompt payment of staff salaries, enhances service delivery to students and provides management with reliable financial data for informed decision-making.

Participants were exposed to a series of presentations delivered by seasoned facilitators, including Professor Paul Aondona Angahar and other resource persons. The sessions focused on strategies for strengthening financial governance, promoting accountability and improving operational effectiveness within the Bursary Department.

The workshop also provided participants with an opportunity to share experiences, discuss emerging challenges in university financial management and explore practical solutions for enhancing productivity and service delivery. Participants expressed appreciation to the University Management and the organizers for the initiative, describing it as timely, insightful and beneficial to their professional development.

NUPEMCO OFFICIALS PAY COURTESY VISIT TO MOAUM MANAGEMENT

Officials of the Nigerian University Pension Management Company (NUPEMCO) on Tuesday, 2nd June, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Management of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi.

Discussions during the meeting, which took place in the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room, centred on strengthening collaboration between the University and NUPEMCO in the areas of pension administration, remittance compliance and staff sensitization on retirement benefits.

Speaking during the visit, members of the delegation emphasized the importance of effective pension management and the need for continuous engagement with university staff to enhance awareness of retirement planning and other pension-related matters. They expressed appreciation for the University's cooperation and commitment to the welfare of its workforce.

Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, commended NUPEMCO for its vital role in safeguarding the retirement future of university employees. He reaffirmed the University's commitment to compliance with pension regulations and the prompt remittance of pension deductions, noting that such measures promote transparency, accountability and staff confidence in the pension system.

The NUPEMCO delegation was led by the Chairman of ASUU-MOAUM, Dr. Sule Ako, and comprised prominent academic union leaders and NUPEMCO representatives, including Professor U. A. Awuze, former National President of ASUU; Mahmoud Lawan, immediate past ASUU Zonal Coordinator; Al-Amin Abdullahi of the ASUU Zonal Committee; Professor M. K. Aliyu, Member of the ASUU National Executive Council (NEC); Dr. Abari Meshach Terseer, Chairperson of ASUU, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi; and Ms. Cynthia Gayys, Technical Staff of NUPEMCO.

The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on pension administration and reaffirm their shared commitment to ensuring that university employees receive the full benefits of a well-managed and sustainable pension system.

VICE-CHANCELLOR PLEDGES REVIVAL OF SPORTS, TO HONOUR NUGA MEDALISTS.

The Vice-Chancellor of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the revitalization of sports and the promotion of sporting excellence in the University.

Professor Alabar made this known on Thursday, May 21, 2026, during an interactive session with members of the University Sports Committee led by its Chairman, Professor Charles Iortimah, at the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the University's athletes who distinguished themselves and won medals at the recent Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Games, assuring them that their achievements would be formally celebrated by the University. He emphasized the need to recognize and reward individuals who bring honour and prestige to the institution, noting that such recognition would inspire others to strive for excellence.

Professor Alabar reiterated his administration's determination to build a vibrant sporting culture that would complement the University's academic pursuits, foster talent development, and enhance the institution's overall reputation.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Sports Committee, Professor Charles Iortimah, informed the Vice-Chancellor that the Committee was working assiduously to reposition sports in the University. He disclosed that the Committee had outlined key sporting activities, was developing a comprehensive sports policy, and had prepared a calendar of sporting events to guide its operations. He also appealed for the establishment of a dedicated Sports Secretariat to strengthen the coordination and administration of sports activities in the institution.

Contributing, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Edward Agbo Omudu, advocated for the designation of one week in the second semester as a University Sports Week to encourage active participation by staff and students in sporting activities.

Also speaking, the Registrar, Mr. Barnabas Terfa Hemba, stressed the importance of teamwork in achieving the Committee's objectives. He revealed that the Vice-Chancellor had already initiated plans to host and honour athletes who represented the University at the last NUGA Games. He further assured the Committee of Management's readiness to procure sports equipment and other necessary materials to support sporting activities in the institution.

In her remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Euginia Member George-Genyi, underscored the role of sports in promoting physical fitness, unity, discipline, and healthy competition among staff and students. She commended the Vice-Chancellor for constituting the Sports Committee and for his commitment to repositioning sports in the University.

Sh*tile Development Association Pledges Support for Alabar.

The Vice-Chancellor of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, has appealed for sustained prayers and support from stakeholders to enable his administration achieve its vision of transforming the institution.

Professor Alabar made the appeal when he received members of the Sh*tile Development Association, Makurdi Branch, led by its President, Dr. Joseph Dzerkaan Fanafa, who paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Responding to the delegation, Professor Alabar described the visit as timely, encouraging and spiritually uplifting, noting that it would further strengthen his resolve to serve the University community diligently and selflessly. He stated that his administration is anchored on three key pillars—Staff, Students and Facilities—which will serve as the foundation of the University's development agenda.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Association for identifying with him and assured members of his commitment to providing purposeful leadership that promotes academic excellence, staff welfare, student development and infrastructural growth. He appealed to the Association and other well-meaning individuals to continue praying for the success of his administration.

Earlier, the President of the Sh*tile Development Association, Makurdi Branch, Dr. Fanafa, said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate Professor Alabar on his appointment and to assure him of the Association's goodwill and unwavering support.

Dr. Fanafa stated that the Association was proud of Professor Alabar's emergence as Vice-Chancellor and expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the University to greater heights. He commended the Vice-Chancellor's humility, gentleness and exemplary leadership qualities, which, according to him, have endeared him to many people and positioned him for successful service.

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 27th May and Thursday, 28th May, 2026 as public holidays in observance of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha (Eid el-Kabir) celebration.
Accordingly, the University community is hereby informed that the aforementioned days shall be observed as public holidays within the University.

However, staff providing essential services are exempted from this directive and are expected to carry out their official duties as scheduled.
Normal work and academic activities shall resume on Friday, 29th May, 2026.

VACANCY FOR THE POST OF BURSAR

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of the Bursar, Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi.

2. Qualification and Experience:
‎Candidates must:
‎i.possess a good honours degree (at least 2nd Class Lower) from a recognized University;

‎ii.have at least fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience in University administration;

‎iii. at the time of being considered for appointment as Bursar, not below the rank of Deputy Bursar; and that possession of a recognized professional certificate or qualification in a relevant field shall be an advantage;

‎iv.possess National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge/exemption Certificate;

‎v.excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods;

‎vi.demonstrate the ability to formulate and implement financial policies, produce manual of University financial procedures;

‎vii.be proficiency in Microsoft Office, Spreadsheet and relevant accounting packages;

‎viii.possess one of the following professional qualifications: ICAN, ACCA, ANAN; leadership, communication and people skills;

‎ix.not be older than 60 years at the time of appointment;

5. Conditions of Service:Conditions of service are as applicable in Federal/State-owned Universities, save as the Governing Council of the University may modify from time to time.

6. Salary: Consolidated.

7. Tenure:The Bursar shall hold office for a single tenure of five (5) years beginning from the date of his/her appointment.

VC Assures Inclusive Employment as Association of the Blind Visits MOAUM.

The Vice-Chancellor of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Professor Timothy Terseer Alabar, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities for all qualified individuals. He gave this assurance during a courtesy visit by members of the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Gwer West Chapter.

Led by its Chairman, Mr. Thomas Anakula, the association visited Professor Alabar to congratulate him on his recent appointment as Vice-Chancellor.

During the interaction, Professor Alabar commended the association for its advocacy and dedication to the welfare of visually impaired persons. He emphasized that persons living with disabilities possess valuable talents and capabilities that can contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation that the university would continue to promote policies that foster inclusion and provide support for persons with special needs, particularly in education and employment opportunities.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Mr. Thomas Anakula, congratulated Professor Alabar on his appointment, describing it as well deserved. He appealed to the university management to consider the employment of qualified visually impaired persons, emphasizing their capacity to serve effectively in various roles within the institution.
