IBBUL ASSURES HYDROPOLIS INVESTMENTS OF EXPERTISE

The Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, has assured that all the necessary expertise needed to actualise the interests of Hydropolis Investments, Limited at the Amfani Industrial Park Mega project, a largest in Africa's investment history is available in the Institution.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu made this known while receiving a team from Hydropolis Investment at the Senate Chamber of the University.

Professor Adamu explained that the University would continue to collaborate with Hydropolis Investments Limited for the mutual benefit of the two parties; stressing that conscious efforts would be made to deliver on all the projects by with excellent results.

He affirmed that the partnership would bridge the gap between the academia and the industry.

The Vice-Chancellor further explained that the mandate of the University is to train, research and provide community service; adding that the Institution has the capacity to engage in exploring other areas like acquaculture, agriculture, entrepreneurial development, public health and ICT.

He, however, assured the team that IBB University would strengthen the confidence reposed on its and appreciated Hydropolis Investments Limited for giving the University the project.

Professor Adamu expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the University by the Management of Hydropolis Investments Limited.

In his remarks, the Head of Mining, Hydropolis Investments Limited, Engr. Babani Amadu explained that the aim of the company is to engage experts that will add value to the business focus of the company, while assisting to build more capacity for the University.

Engr. Babani, who represented the Managing Director of the Company, said the company has confidence in the University, hence the collaboration to do business especially in the area of mining.

He affirmed that the partnership marks the beginning of many other engagements with the University.

Presenting an Interim report on detailed feasibility studies of Geological exploration on Gold deposit located in Borgu Local Goverment Area of the State, the Coordinating Director, Research and Development Directorate of the University, Professor Nuhu George Obaje explained that detailed geological survey, including geophysical and geochemical evaluations have been deployed to assess the economic viability of of gold deposit in the Hydropolis licensed area.

He said the University as the appointed consultant has made significant progress on the conduct of environmental impact assessment, community development agreement and production of an environmental protection and remediation plan for the project.

The Coordinating Director further advised appropriately on the economic viability of the mineral deposits in the area, applauding the business initiatives of Hydropolis Investments Limited.

Also Professor Salihu Adelabu who is the Director of the Centre for Research Commercialization and a member of the mining project team made a presentation that centered on the processes made in community sensitization and development of community development agreement.

Equally, Associate Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko had his presentation on the significance of aquaculture development to entire value chain of Hydropolis Amfani Free Zone Development Area.

The Registrar, Alhaji Musa Ango Abdullahi expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed on the University by the Management to engage in meaningful collaboration.

He assured that no efforts would be spared to ensure that the projects are delivered to the standard of Hydropolis Investments so as to further cement the relationship.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

This is to inform all Students of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai that second semester academic activities for 2019/2020 session has since commenced.

Students are advised, by this announcement, to resume immediately, as the Senate had approved the administration of resumption Test, which would be considered as good percentage of the Continuous Assessment (C.A).

Students are to note that there will be no make-up Test.

Also, the Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Lapai, wishes to inform all prospective UTME Candidates, guardians and general public that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB) has approved three CBT Centres for the Institution.

With this development, candidates can comfortably register for the forthcoming 2021 JAMB examination.

The circulating IBBU calendar is not genuine- Elomi

President, Students' Union Government (SUG), Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Comrade Baba Alhaji nicknamed as Elomi, says the circulating academic calendar on social media is not genuine.

"Our attention has been drawn to the reviewed academic calendar circulating on social media, and we wish to enjoin the general public, particularly my fellow students to ignore the calendar", Elomi stated.

Urging students to remain calm, he explained that the management in its senate meeting today, has fixed its resumption date for October 19, 2020.

He added that the genuine calendar will follow suit after today's senate meeting.

His words: It was true that the senate meeting was held today and they have resolved to resume school on the 19th, but the calendar hasn't been released."

WHILE speculations are geared towards possible suspension of ASUU strike in the coming week, the president said there are pending issues which may further heighten IBBU internal strike.

According to him, undertakings are on to impede such scenario.

IBBUL SIGNS JOINT DEGREE AGREEMENT WITH GIRNE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY, CYPRUS

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai along with fifteen other universities in Nigeria signed a collaborative joint degree program agreement with a foremost University in Cyprus.

In the agreement, students will spend first two to three years in IBB University, Lapai and complete their programme at the Cyprus University.

The programme is being coordinated and facilitated by the National Universities Commission (NUC), is a unique joint degree collaborative one involving several Nigerian Universities.

At the signing ceremony, the Chancellor of the American University, Dr. Serhat Akpinar, reiterated his commitment to the success of the programme and ensured that the relationship transcends to cover areas of research and Faculty exchange.

The representative of the NUC Executive Secretary, Mrs. Constance Goddy-Nnadi, who is the Commission's Director, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, affirmed the total support of the Commission to the success of this programme.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare, expressed his delight that IBB University was among the first few Universities to leverage on this fantastic opportunity for internationalization of its programmes and enhancing global relevance.

He said mode of operation in the programme will afford Nigerian youths the opportunity to study at a reputable international University in a convenient and affordable manner.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Mohammed Aliyu Paiko.

Institutions in the partnership include Federal, State and Private Universities. Although fifteen Nigerian Universities had earlier indicated interest in the MoU, but only nine travelled to the city of Ercan in Northern Cyprus, where the campus of GIRNE American University is located.

Nineteen delegates from the participating nine universities included; IBB University, Lapai, FUT, Minna, Umar Musa Yar'Adua University, Katsina, Yobe State University, and Taraba State University.

Others are, First Technical University Ibadan, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Enugu State University and Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island respectively.
