Nigeria’s food and beverage import bill continues to rise, highlighting both the scale of demand in the market and the structural challenges within the country’s agricultural supply chain.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, food and beverage imports increased from ₦6.58 trillion in 2024 to ₦7.65 trillion in 2025, a 16.34% year-on-year increase. This means the sector now accounts for over 11% of Nigeria’s total import bill.

The data shows particularly strong growth in imports for industrial use, as manufacturers and processors continue to rely on imported agricultural inputs and raw materials to meet production demand. While food inflation has eased significantly, the numbers underline the ongoing need to strengthen local production capacity, processing infrastructure, and supply chains.

For businesses across the sector, the opportunity remains clear:
Nigeria’s growing demand for food and beverage products continues to open the door for international suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers.

This is exactly why platforms like Food & Beverage West Africa play a crucial role in connecting global producers with the distributors, retailers, and manufacturers shaping the region’s food industry.

Due to overwhelming demand from brands and buyers alike, FAB West Africa is expanding into an additional hall for 2026.

That kind of growth does not happen by chance. It happens when the market is active, when buyers are ready to source, and when brands are serious about scaling across Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

More space means more exhibitors. More exhibitors attract more high-quality buyers. And more buyers mean stronger distribution conversations, retail partnerships, and export opportunities.

If you are in food or beverage and planning real growth in 2026, this is where those opportunities come together under one roof.

The industry is moving forward. Make sure your brand is part of it.
