GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS INITIATIVE AND TOURNAMENT
Late Sir Clement Bala Omachi was an ardent lover of games, especially soccer. He was an athlete. Popular testimonies about him were his love for people, his generosity and hospitality. Little wonder he was very much involved in the education and progress of many. He organized football matches through which he encouraged teams and empower young people. Therefore, it is not a surprise that his family has put this together In order to keep his memory alive.
This maiden tournament is to provide full and healthy contact between the different age grade and generations. The game of soccer is an excellent vehicle to teach young people the fundamental principles of life such as sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, work-ethics, tolerance, patriotism, and unity. Sir Clem earned a reputation for being a bridge builder between the various religious adherents. He was indeed a man of peace.
Sports generally create a common ground. It has the power to unite people. One can easily recall how rugby brought together a divided South Africa during the reign of Nelson Mandela. It was in 1995. The Rugby World Cup final, rugby's biggest game.
And yet it was much more. It was nation-defining for South Africa, a transcendent moment in the transformation from apartheid to multi-racial democracy. The legacy of this still speaks — nearly 20 years later — to what sport is capable of achieving. With his cap and a team jersey, Mandela showed an incisive understanding of the role sport plays in millions of lives. "Sport has the power to change the world," Mandela said in a speech five years.
After that match. "It has the power to inspire, it has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. ‘’Sport has shown over time that it brings people together across race, religion gender, geography, political affiliation, age and any other difference you can name. Bald men will have their heads rubbed by the couple sitting behind them, who they just met five minutes ago but have since become close friends with. I've shared some of the happiest moments of my life with complete strangers and have connected with people I would have otherwise never spoken to. Sports are a uniting force, devoid of prejudice.
Hopefully, in the near future, Sir Clems tournament will announce its affiliation with groups and interests, with the Association of Sport writers and referees. Already, all our organizers and coaches have been screened and trained in a rigorous screening process. We have about 45 registered cubs, but 20 have been shortlisted for this tournament. The three best teams will eventually receive awards, prizes and exposure.

It is our hope that this will be as entertaining as possible, bringing about the desired peace, unity and progress.
