KWASFEST 2020 ENDS ON A GRAND SCALE AS GOV. ABDULRAZAQ URGES YOUTHS TO ENVISION AND EXPLOIT OPPORTUNITIES
On a grand scale, the 7th Kwara State Sports Festival ended on Saturday, 1st of February, 2020, with the presence of dignitaries ranging from His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Governor of the State, his Deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi, the Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare, and others.
The one-week programme, which kicked off on Monday, 27th of February, 2020, gave the young ones in the State the privilege to showcase their talents in the various sporting activities lined up for the event.
Delivering his speech, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, called on the young ones in the State to imagine a world of limitless opportunies ahead of them and exploit the benefits instead of involving themselves in criminal activities.
He reminded the youths that there are difficulties along the path of success which can only be defeated with hard work, humility, sacrifice and determination.
In his address, the Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare, opined that the event signposted the future of sports development in Nigeria and described the gathering as a celebration of Governor AbdulRazaq, stating that AbdulRazaq is not only a reforming deity in the Kwara sports project but an epitome of sports in Nigeria.
In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, and Chairperson, MOC, Hon. Joana Nnazu Kolo, affirmed that Governor AbdulRazaq surprised the people with the reintroduction of the festival, stating that this has neutralised the insinuation that the festival had been scrapped from the policy syllabus of the State.
Giving the vote of thanks, the Vice-Chairman, Main Organising Committee, Alhaji Hameed Adio, said the staging of the festival this year leaves behind a monumental effect, referring to the programme as a week devoted to displaying harmony, culture, tolerance and friendliness.
