IKORODU MUSLIMS STAND UNITED AS PREPARATIONS KICK OFF FOR 4TH ANNUAL HIJRAH CELEBRATION (1448 AH)
The planning committee for the annual Ikorodu Hijrah Celebration met yesterday, Wednesday, 20th of May, with delegates from various Islamic organisations and mosques to finalise arrangements for this year's landmark event. Held at the residence of the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, the consultative meeting marked the official countdown to the 4th annual celebration, which is now exactly one month away.
Led by the Ameer, Sheikh Musa Alwajud As-Sheikhanny, the committee announced that this year’s grand celebration will take place Insha'Allah on Sunday, June 21, 2026, which corresponds with the 5th of Muharram, 1448 AH. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. prompt at the Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall.
The upcoming gathering has received the joint blessings and formal approval of the region's revered Islamic leadership. Both Fadilat Sheikh Alliy Seifudeen Ayinla Ademoritan Olowooribi, the Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, and Fadilat Sheikh Yahya Oshoala Ajagbemokeferi (As-Samadaani), the Chief Imam Jamiu of Oriwu Central Mosque, have thrown their full weight behind the committee to ensure a successful outing.
Addressing the delegates, Ameer Sheikh Musa Alwajud As-Sheikhanny thanked the various Islamic organizations and mosques for their historical and continued commitment to this noble cause. He emphasized that the Hijrah celebration serves as a powerful reminder of the beauty of Islam as a religion of peace. Beyond the spiritual milestones, the Ameer noted that the event is designed to foster deeper brotherhood among the different Muslim bodies in the division, bridge community ties, and provide a platform that inspires Muslim youth toward positive community service and moral leadership.
Describing the event as a true testament to the unification of Islam in Ikorodu, the Ameer urged all local organizations and mosques to take full ownership of the celebration as a collective duty to the Muslim community.
To facilitate smooth logistics, the committee has fixed the participation fee for interested Islamic organizations and mosques at ₦40,000. This fee covers essential group accommodations at the venue, including a canopy, two tables, and five dozen chairs.
With only a month left until the event, the planning committee is also calling on Islamic organizations, mosques, and well-meaning individuals to support the project through financial donations as a form of charity toward the propagation of Islam.
