DAY 5 OF NZEH MADA FESTIVAL 2026 – “NZEH FAMILY HERITAGE DAY” at Mada Heritage Events Centre, Ministry of Agriculture Garden, Akwanga.

The fifth day of the Nzeh Mada Festival 2026, celebrated on 27th March, was dedicated to *Nzeh Family Heritage Day, a moment that beautifully reflected the essence of Akwanga, captured in the Mada expression *“Ngbange,”* meaning “my friend.” The day highlighted unity, hospitality, and the enduring cultural legacy of the Mada people.

In line with this year’s theme, the Nzeh Mada Festival Commission emphasized strengthening the heritage of the Mada nation as a people known for their accommodating spirit and commitment to peaceful coexistence with all ethnic groups living within their land, fondly regarded as “Gbam,” friends of the land.

Family Heritage Day featured a colourful showcase of cultures from diverse ethnic communities including Igbo, Eggon, Hausa/Fulani, Gbagi, Migili, Yoruba, and Mada. Participants thrilled the audience with vibrant traditional attires, cultural dances, and an array of indigenous delicacies from various villages and communities.

The Royal Father, His Royal Highness, Pastor Samson Gamu Yare, Paramount Ruler and Chairman of Akwanga Traditional Council, expressed delight at the unity and love displayed among the participating ethnic groups. He encouraged all communities to sustain and nurture the peaceful coexistence that binds them together, noting that the welcoming nature of the Mada people continues to attract investors and settlers, thereby promoting development across Akwanga and the wider Mada land.

Also present at the event was *His Royal Highness, Ibrahim Adamu Mohammed, Sarkin Nunku, alongside other traditional leaders and dignitaries.

The celebration was further enriched by outstanding performances from Mengye Dance Group (girls dance group),
Dance by Women Group,
Sapphire Dance Performance,
Heritage Dance Performance,
We ha e the Emerald Dance Performance, and the Dandaura Legacy Kids (a vibrant group of young performers groomed by Theatre Arts staff)*, who entertained guests with captivating cultural displays.

The festival will continues in grand style with the next exciting event, Mountain Hiking, Creative* Dances, Mada Food Fair, and the Finals of Traditional Wrestling*.

DAY 2 OF NZEH MADA FESTIVAL 2026 – “LEGACY IN MOTION”

The second day of the Nzeh Mada Festival 2026, held on 25th March 2026, was marked by vibrant cultural displays, thrilling competitions, and a renewed celebration of the rich heritage of the Mada people. Widely regarded as one of the most colourful cultural festivals in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, the event continues to showcase the unique traditions and identity of the Mada Nation.

The Nzeh Mada Festival Commission, established to promote and preserve Mada cultural heritage, operates under the leadership of its Director-General, Professor Emmanuel Samu Dandaura, a renowned Nigerian communication scholar and cultural studies expert. His wealth of experience in development communication, theatre arts, and strategic communication has further strengthened efforts aimed at projecting Mada culture on the global stage.

Day Two featured exciting competitions which advanced to the quarterfinal stage, including Lido, food-eating contest, drinking competition, and traditional wrestling. These activities attracted enthusiastic participation and captivated spectators, reinforcing the communal spirit and unity among the people.

The highlight of the day was a captivating stand-up comedy performance by Theatre Arts students from the College of Education, Akwanga, and Nasarawa State University, Keffi. Their performances emphasized unity, cultural pride, and the central role of the Mada heritage in fostering social cohesion.

The theme of this year’s festival, “Legacy in Motion,” continues to resonate, as participants and attendees celebrate the enduring values and traditions of the Mada people.

Members of the public are warmly invited to be part of this prestigious cultural festival and witness the beauty of Mada heritage.
