My Roots I

It was 19 years (2005) ago when in JSS 2 at the Government Secondary School Kubwa popularly known as Black and White that I heard about the Young Catholic Catholic Students of Nigeria, the YCSN. I joined and allowed myself to pass through the organization as much as I allowed it to pass through me. I would later proceed to join the Parish-based YCSN in St. Luke's Parish Kubwa, then to the Tertiary-based YCS at the then University of Agriculture Makurdi (Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi). Just a summary, next to my points.

It was within the vibrant tapestry of the YCSN that my journey of faith and activism began. This organization became the fertile ground where my values were sown and nurtured. Joining the YCSN was pivotal in my life. This organization was my first introduction to a community that not only nurtured my faith but also equipped me with invaluable life skills. Through YCSN's methodology of See-Judge-Act, I learned to observe the world around me, make thoughtful judgments, and take meaningful actions. This approach to practical Christianity emphasized through Personal Action and Team Action, has been a guiding principle in many areas of my life. The learnings from this body have shaped my character and influenced my decisions. Whether in personal relationships, professional settings, or community involvement, the principles have provided a solid foundation for making ethical and impactful choices.

The See-Judge-Act methodology is unique to the YCSN. It is a common trait to observe that most members have a critical lens through which to analyze the world around them. They observe realities, discern their implications, and take concrete actions to bring about positive change. This is a framework that is an invaluable compass guiding them through life's challenges. The experiences shared within YCSN circles have equipped me with the skills and confidence to navigate diverse communities and collaborate effectively. I am eternally grateful for the foundation laid by YCSN. It is a foundation upon which I have built my life and career.

To all current members of YCSN, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and admiration. Keep the flame burning bright. Your dedication and commitment to living out these values are truly inspiring. Continue in your struggle for a better life, knowing that your efforts are making a difference. Your commitment to faith, justice, and service is essential for building a better world. Let us continue to strive for a society where every individual can thrive. Together, we can build a brighter future.

Stay strong, stay faithful, and keep making a positive impact.

Next, I will be telling you about my service as an Altar Server or Altar Boy or Mass Server.

Not just a warning but also an invitation to reflect on our priorities.

The culmination of these events leads to a profound realization: economic wealth cannot substitute for the essentials that nature provides. Money, in the absence of natural resources, loses its value because it cannot replicate the life-sustaining functions of nature.

Embracing sustainability isn't just a trend, it's our future. For businesses, it means weaving eco-conscious practices into every thread of their operations. It's not just about being better; it's about doing better—for our planet and for generations to come.

This ability to modify the environment is a double-edged sword; it has allowed human societies to thrive and develop technology, but it also comes with the responsibility to manage our impact on the planet.

The challenge for humanity is to find a balance between progress and sustainability, ensuring that we preserve the natural world that all life depends on.

Absolutely, this beautifully captures the essence of how individual actions and choices contribute to the larger goal of creating a sustainable future.

Just like seeds, ideas and habits need consistent care and the right environment to grow and flourish. Every choice we make can be a step towards a more sustainable and equitable world.

Sustainable agriculture goes beyond crops. It's a commitment to the soil's health, the purity of water, the cleanliness of air, and the well-being of all life. It's how we grow with the earth, not just on it.
